On the basis of the above I guess the test side will be something like:

Sutherland; Turner; Fagerson
Gilchrist; Gray
Crosbie; Watson; Bradbury
Price; Kinghorn
Graham; Johnson; Hutchinson; VdM
Smith (on account of being the only available fullback...unless Rowe can also play at 15?)

Just noticed my bias for Crosbie slipped in there! Darge or Skinner in at 6 for the test side.

That should be quite an exiting team to watch against a team like Chile

One of Sutherland and Schoeman had to bench I suppose.

I reckon they'll be trying to get minutes into the AP/BK half back combo before the tests. No other reason really for Price to be there.

The reason is the test is outside the window so none of the English based players are available. I think Townsend should have taken Kebble and Pyrgos/Dobie for this game.

It’s a total nonsense because they are literally already there, they aren’t sitting at home resting or something. I suppose it’s ultimately Scotland’s own fault for arranging another test outside the window though.

Nice break, well run through a massive gap by Thompson but it was a pretty average ending. Then a standard missed touch by Scotland player from a penalty.

Very average start by the half backs.

Chile will need to sort out that midfield defence. The 13 really needed to maintain some discipline.

Nice passing though to take advantage, esp by Smith who might have been tempted to go himself.

Clever by Crosbie to realise it was the 2 props ahead of him and creates the try.

What Scotland have to do now is focus, it will be tempting to take the foot off the throat and go for the Hail Mary passes

This game is good for rugby, and Scotland aren't afraid to visit lower tier nations but we're going to learn very little here.

You can see what it means to Chile and they are going to learn loads, you can almost see them picking things up as they game goes on. All this bollocks about growing the game, which really means the top teams getting richer, when this is the way to do it

Yeah, we've been to Fiji, Samoa, Georgia and Chile in the last 2 WC cycles. We're due to go to Romania too. I'd happily have an A team play the Tier 2/3 nations each summer if money could be found.

That's a card tackle BTW.

Reflections on the first half:

Crosbie looks a natural at International level, looking forward to seeing him in the next few years.

Ollie Smith is class and heir apparent

Thompson is a very tidy player but still don’t think he will make the next step unfortunately

Currie looking like he will explode into the game at some point but hasn’t quite happened yet.

Horne looking very tidy.

Tuipulotu looks one dimensionally average even at this level

Tichtheid will be enjoying Hoyland

Indeed, after his story of injury and what happened with his grandparents, I love to see the laddie back and doing so well.

Felt the team lost their shape for most of the second half. Nice result but second half was rescued by the two late tries.

I guess it was inevitable. End of a long season, modest opposition, game clearly in the bag, players mentally clocked off.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Well, it seems to be inevitable for us. Other national sides not so much.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?
