I forgot this Canadian classic had such a dramatic (and, arguably, at times cheesy) video!

Jools Holland could certainly tickle the old ivories.

I can remember where I was and who I was with when I first heard that album, Sam. Still carries that breath of fresh air vibe for me.... I saw the band live in Sydney, complete with Johnny Marr. Great gig, a real highlight and of course I bought a t shirt. I was wearing it one weekend and a friend of the housemates was over, lovely lady, bit of an English intellectual sort. She’s looking at my t shirt, logo only in red on white. What, she says, is T hey T hey? 😀

Probably unknown outside of Canada (even inside!) but this is a synth choon of the highest order! (Simple Minds-esque?)

The Body Electric was a terrific Kiwi synthesizer band.

How can one mention the Body Electric and not post Pulsing?

It’s a toss up between Huey Lewis and the News and Whitney Houston.

The problem with the 80's music scene is that most people think it is the Stock Aitken Waterman era - one hit wonders, neon leggings and big shoulder pads. But the 80's is ace with the amount of genres that came out of the club scene and the underground scenes of the 70's

The Cure, The Smiths, Joy Division, Talking Heads
REM released 6 fantastic albums in the 80's
The Police
U2 (at a time they weren't up their own a**es)
The Clash
Prince was in his pomp
Queen
Public Enemy/NWA/Run DMC/Beastie Boys
The Pretenders
AC/DC dropped Back in Black
Regardless what you thought of the image - Bon Jovi, Guns 'n' Roses, Def Leppard, Whitesnake and various hair metal bands were cranking out decent albums
Hard Rock was getting proper thrashy and heavy Megadeth, Metallica, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Anthrax, Motorhead, Pantera, Sepultura
Roxy Music
Lou Reed
Pet Shop Boys
Marvin Gaye gave us an album to shag to
Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson, Madonna were popping it up
Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Husker Du, The Pixies were alternativing it up
Crowded House
David Bowie was doing some cool stuff
Bruce Springsteen had a massive decade
Tom Petty was being awesome

The list can go on for ages. I love the 80's - I'm a 90's kid but a lot of my music comes from the era before.

You need Genesis' Invisible Touch in there to complete the American Psycho set.
