It's my hard earned money and I get taxed into oblivion as it is so that SA politicians can line their pockets. Why should I pay for some young lady somewhere to have unprotected sex?
If you get banged up because of a promiscuous lifestyle and decide you want to abort then pay for it with your own damn money.

Why should you get a free abortion any and every time you get banged up if my mom had to pay out of her own pocket for breast reconstruction after her mastectomy?
So are you prepared to make sufficient child support to be payable by the father to be backed up by punitive seizure laws and/or compulsory jail terms?

Are you also prepared to cover the cost of the care of unwanted children (or children who cannot be cared for properly) who have been surrendered to foster care from your taxes. That number is around 450,000 and it will explode in the very near future.

You can see why the fascist Supreme Court Judges, the GOP, & the Evangelical jihadists were pissed at the original leak of the decision; they absolutely didn't want this coming out before the mid-terms, with ~80% of US voters clearly against their new ; "interpretation"

This decision combined with Thomas's attack on other decisions, have turned this decision, & SCOTUS into the main policy for the Mid-Terms, & the GOP have predictably assembled the biggest shower of knuckle dragging morons you could imagine.

I really hope people are able to get out & vote, & tell the DNC, the GOP, & SCOTUS what they want, in no uncertain terms !

It's long past time to take the gloves off, & stop pretending that there can be an honest debate, & negotiation with them.

There will still be abortions in States like Oklahoma.

Just not safe ones.

How messed up is the world when we begin to solve problems by allocating resources to the outcome instead of preventing it from happening in the first place.

Quite. This is what the ostriches are refusing to talk about, abortions will take place and women will die.

However, there are lights in the dark place, California Governor Gavin Newson immediately signed into law protection for women who travel to California to seek the procedure, saying that they will not co-operate with any State which seeks any information on women who have abortions or those who perform the procedure or those who help in any way.

As an aside, Gov Newsom's distant cousin Joanna Newson is a musician who is worth a listen, if you like a slightly weird singer song-writers who accompany themselves on the harp.

Right, abortions will still happen, just like they've always happened. But the law with predominantly affect the less wealthy, and will end up with a lot of living breathing human beings dying a preventable death. America is already absolutely dogshit for maternal care and many states have a genuinely gobsmacking death rate during birth.

The map of states with higher maternal death rates on wiki (on phone so not c+p ing) looks like it'll lay quite well over states with abortion bans in the offing or in place

Next up, in West Virginia vs EPA, the Supreme Court is likely to completely gut the federal government's ability to regulate. Another goal of the cunts ticked off.

This is the thing, "My interpretation of a 2000 year old book (3000 in the case of the OT) that has gone through many translations and interpretations when, at various times, genocide and murder and slavery has been committed in its name, my interpretation of that book, which involves some pretty "out there" things to a 21st century mind, my interpretation of that book means I cannot do this that or the other"

Fine.

"But you have to live by that too, even though the constitution separates Church and State"

Well, you can fuck the fuck off, basically.

WRT the EPA, unfortunately it's not just the wingnuts who suffer from their own stupidity, and not even only their own compatriots, it's the entire planet.

So this morning (NZ time) I watched the latest concocted bombshell allegation against Trump.

As the hearsay female 'witness' at the Dems laughable Jan 6 Show Trial earnestly testified, I was struck at the similarity in her facial mannerisms to those of Christine Fraud (Christine Ford, who made sexual allegations against Kavanaugh at a party whose locale she could not identify, at a date she could not identify to the nearest year, at a gathering where she named several attendees including her best friend all of whom declared that such a gathering never occurred).

And for subsequent hours this morning, exactly as with Christine Fraud, CNN pundits were in awe at how 'compelling' her evidence had been and expressed their privilege at having been present on a day of which their grandchildren would query 'Where were you when Cassidy Hutchinson' hammered that final nail into Trump's casket.

But everything screamed BS to such extent that I imagine even this forum's Usual TDS Suspects cringed at the farce.

Oh well, if it's all BS I'm sure the secret service agents and others who were close to Trump on Jan' 6 will be delighted to come forward and refute it...

Wow, the science of facial mannerisms has come a long way since I studied psychology, maybe we need to call a phrenologist in to validate these fascinating insights.

Rudy, Rudy, Rudy .... there is always footage !
New York City Mayor Eric Adams suggested Tuesday that former Mayor Rudy Giuliani be investigated for filing a false police report for claiming he was assaulted by a heckler who clapped him on the back Sunday at a Staten Island grocery store.

“Someone needs to remind former Mayor Giuliani that falsely reporting a crime is a crime," Adams told reporters, saying he'd watched security video that undercut Giuliani’s harrowing account.

Giuliani, 78, described being hit so hard it felt like being shot with a gun.

The heckler, who police said cried out “What’s up scumbag?” as he walked away from Giuliani, was arrested and spent more than 24 hours in jail before his arraignment Monday on misdemeanor charges including third-degree assault.

Adams said he thinks Staten Island District Attorney Michael McMahon “has the wrong person that he’s investigating.

“When you look at the video, the guy basically walked by and patted him on the back,” Adams said. “It was clear that he was not punched in the head. It was clear that it didn’t feel like a bullet. It was clear that he wasn’t about to fall to the ground.”

They've also ruled on diminishing the independence of Native American lands, which presumably is another part of the environmental smash and grab with an added bonus of being able to piss off a hitherto protected minority.

From what I've been reading this level of iconoclasm toward precedent will entirely fuck the legal system over there because so much of the law is simply precedent..

I wonder if some sort of legal challenge to the authority of the Supreme Court might come out of this... or a restructure along the lines of the number of Judges serving on it and the nature of their appointments.

Liz Cheney has come out guns blazing...

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/202 ... epublicans
Congresswoman Liz Cheney, vice-chair of the congressional panel investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, has warned that former president Donald Trump represents “a domestic threat that we have never faced before”.

Cheney, the daughter of former vice-president Dick Cheney, told fellow Republicans that it was impossible to be loyal to both Trump and the American constitution.

The Wyoming congresswoman, ostracized by much of her party, was speaking on Wednesday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, a day after the January 6 committee’s latest explosive hearing.

“At this moment, we are confronting a domestic threat that we have never faced before,” Cheney told the audience. “And that is a former president who is attempting to unravel the foundations of our constitutional republic. And he is aided by Republican leaders and elected officials who have made themselves willing hostages to this dangerous and irrational man.”

The 55-year-old noted that some in her party were embracing Trump and enabling his lies while others are choosing to look the other way because it is the easier path. “One need only look at the threats that are facing the witnesses who’ve come before the January 6 committee to understand the nature and the magnitude of that threat.

“But to argue that the threat posed by Donald Trump can be ignored is to cast aside the responsibility that every citizen – every one of us – bears to perpetuate the republic. We must not do that, and we cannot do that.”

The six hearings of the House of Representatives’ January 6 committee so far have pointed the finger at Trump for encouraging an armed mob of supporters to march on the US Capitol in an effort to slow and stop the counting of electoral votes. The president’s own top aides told him there was no evidence of widespread fraud in Joe Biden’s victory.

“It has become clear that the efforts Donald Trump oversaw and engaged in were even more chilling and more threatening than we could have imagined,” Cheney said. “As we have shown, Donald Trump attempted to overturn the presidential election. He attempted to stay in office and to prevent the transfer of presidential power.”

She added: “It’s undeniable. It’s also painful for Republicans to accept and I think we all have to recognize and understand what it means to say those words, and what it means that those things happened. But the reality that we face today as Republicans, as we think about the choice in front of us – we have to choose. Because Republicans cannot both be loyal to Donald Trump and loyal to the constitution. We must choose.”

Cheney praised Cassidy Hutchinson, a 25-year-old former aide to the former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, who on Tuesday told the House panel that Trump knew the mob was armed and asked for metal detectors be removed, as well as lunging at a Secret Service agent’s throat as he demanded to be driven to the Capitol.

“Her superiors – men many years older – a number of them are hiding behind executive privilege, anonymity and intimidation. But her bravery and patriotism yesterday were awesome to behold. Little girls all across this great nation are seeing what it really means to love this country and what it really means to be a patriot.”

Cheney’s remarks gained cheers and applause but she looks set to pay a heavy political price for her eviscerations of Trump. After being ousted from party leadership in the House, censured by the Republican National Committee and no longer recognised by her state party, she is facing a showdown in a 16 August Republican primary in Wyoming.

Harriet Hageman, her Trump-endorsed challenger, responded to Cheney’s speech with a statement that said: “Liz Cheney is the last one who should be giving lectures about the future of the Republican party when she is singlehandedly trying to burn it to the ground.

“Cheney is using Wyoming’s only House seat to further her own personal war on President Trump, while helping Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats achieve their own political goals at the same time. She’s doing more to help the future of the Democratic party than anything else.”

Not so sure - in the televised debate a few days back she was clearly the only adult in the room, and the only one capable of stringing a sentence together. She might just hold on to the GOP nomination.

One can only imagine the loathing for Trump if thinking Cheney is poor for having a flabby derriere. Amusing mind to consider a Cheney as a RINO, that's a lit like accusing Jesus of not being Christian enough (in so much as one can accuse mythical beings of anything)

A last, desperate struggle before her constituency kicks the flabby assed RINO under her flabby butt....and she knows it !

If anyone's a RINO it's these delusional Trump cultists that favour theocracy over the constitution.
One can only imagine the loathing for Trump if thinking Cheney is poor for having a flabby derriere. Amusing mind to consider a Cheney as a RINO, that's a lit like accusing Jesus of not being Christian enough (in so much as one can accuse mythical beings of anything)
Certain people tend to reserve these appearance based insults for women. I'm sure Trump's bulk is a positive for some reason or other.
