Saw this and thought, apart from the freakish height, Lood does not look like a modern pro. More like a gamer geek forced into playing by his dad.

He's the spitting image of Joe Wilkinson.

Lood is an absolute freak. Frans Malherbe is another who looks out of place in he modern game. I think he has a massively strong core and legs because he's tall for a fat prop at 1.9m. Normally the tall props like Sheridan and Hayman are big ripped dudes.

Nic Rouse always amused me. Did not look like a modern lock forward. Looked like some bloke from the pub wearing a rugby shirt. Ended up being players player of the year in a crap team that season iirc.

He is a gut lord, but that is neither a flattering pose nor a flattering top.

Piri Weepu often looked like he was in a late Elvis/Jim Morrison phase. Fat, unshaven and sweaty.

I met Piri at Auckland airport on my way back from NZ. He was pushing his girlfriend around in a baggage cart.

That's all there is to this story, I was just amused by it.

He's going to be like that Bulls supporter upon retirement isn't he?

Game for all shapes? Don't know about the fatties but Jonny Hill never struck me as a pro rugby player.

Some interesting props currently in the SA mix at the moment.
Malherbe is a freak. He should not have the mobility and endurance he has carrying that body across a rugby field, but somehow he does it.

Asenathi Ntlabakanye at the Lions is another; although he's not nearly as good as Malherbe (yet).

Always amusing seeing him come onto the field.
URC website has him listed at 128kg, but there's not fucking way. He has to be pushing 140kg looking like that.

I've noticed that a fair few locks aren't in what one might consider professional athlete shape - fairly skinny arms, sometimes with some belly/muffin top. They just look like stretched out regular humans.

Brodie Retallick has got huge feet on the end of very skinny lower legs, no calf muscle size.
