A win against the Irish. I’ll take that.

Cricket more important than rugby any way.

It is surprising how much NZ have struggled against Ireland. Their bowlers have been troubling our top order for the whole series. Our bowlers have leaked runs and in most cases been pretty heavily dominated.

I would say that Ireland were very unfortunate not to be have won the ODI series. In most cases they were the better team and it was really the heroics of Bracewell that saved NZ blushes.

I haven't seen much of Ireland - but they don't appear to be any sort of minnow? They have some genuinely powerful batters and a solid bowling line up.

Are you going? I'm at the 20/20 on the 27th. Which could be a short match if Scotland bat first.

It makes sense. Trying to balance all 3 forms of the game and the test captaincy can only hurt him.

For all the talk of the death of tests, it is 50 over cricket that for me is under the biggest threat

Which is a shame, as I think England did a great job of making it an attractive alternative to T20 under Morgan, and India's new approach seems excellent too.

Full slate of county championship games on today as well, in a pretty baking environment.

Nice of us to loan them Malan for this game. Making him bat right-handed seems like a fair trade.

He's been getting injured a lot recently and has a habit of continuing to give it full bore despite a knackered knee or whatever. Probably a good thing for his own sake.

Who is Brydon Carse, by the way? He sounds like a rejected suitor from a Jane Austen novel.

When did he throw a tantrum? After he left the field? I saw him get hit - given out - chatted to Root who was pretty sure it was plumb and then Stokes walked off disappointed but still acknowledged the crowds applause.

I think you misunderstood what was happening anyway. Root was trying to convince him to review (given it was his final ODI innings) but Stokes knew he was out. Obviously a bit of anguish at failing in his final innings.

But hey, if it's good enough for Bradman...
