Love Japanese knives. So sensibly designed. I am getting my Viking boning knife this arvo. Vok I can't wait to hold it again.Wilson's Toffee wrote: Tue Jul 26, 2022 12:21 pm Sards - beautiful knives.
Like Chilli I am almost overstocked with knives, but somehow another and another manage to creep in.... yet I use only a few. My favourite is the deba.

Viking boning knife in sheath
Now you understand why I had to have it.
4mm blade so it's strong. High carbon so it keeps its edge.
Apparently it's popular for hard veg in the kitchen because of its weight and tip. Like pumpkin etc. The beauty of the curved blade is you can get almost double it's length in cutting edge. I reckon you could do anything with it. It would look awesome even as bush knife. I imagine it will be outstanding for fish filleting and skinning. You can appreciate the thickness in the pic where you can see into the hole. The last pic.
It comes with a drop down sheath for hanging from your belt. I like that. My previous tracker knife I had a cross sheath that follows your belt
Oh BTW....the hole....to reduce weight and obviously to put your finger in to get more pressure closer to the tip, and for greater control....duh.

Out of interest, does anybody in South Africa take Malema seriously?
I note that his anti white comments have been heavily reported in the UK but got little to no press in South Africa
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... lence.html
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-62332376
To me he comes across as being a massive hypocrite who is saying controversial things, not because he believes them but because he knows it will get him attention.

Malema is Nippers hero.
He makes great headlines, but the chances of him ever becoming president are slim to none.ia801310 wrote: Fri Jul 29, 2022 6:15 pm Out of interest, does anybody in South Africa take Malema seriously?
He's an absolute racist cretin. But unfortunately he has a captive audience in a large section of the population that is young, uneducated and unemployed.

You and OomPB sure have some strange obsession with Nipper.
Why is he living rent-free in your heads? What did he do?
Uhm, Nips is actually my mate.Blake wrote: Tue Aug 09, 2022 8:37 amYou and OomPB sure have some strange obsession with Nipper.

Ah okay then. Thought it was a cheapshot at him with a reference I didn't quite get.
OomPB also made a weird comment about Nips and Malema on here earlier that I also didn't get.
I thought the two were somehow related.
I am NOT related to Oom :-)Blake wrote: Tue Aug 09, 2022 12:25 pmAh okay then. Thought it was a cheapshot at him with a reference I didn't quite get.

Devil worship? My Mother Lodge is in Krugersdo......assfly wrote: Mon Aug 08, 2022 6:02 am Maybe they should change the name of Krugersdorp. At the moment it's associated with devil worship and illegal miners
Oh, wait!!!
The town has become a dump. Drive through Luipaard street, especially at night, to get an idea how bad it really is. You can buy any drug you want. The prozzies fill the sidewalks at night, where you can choose whatever your preference: very very young, to old, any shape, colour and orientation.
According to a friend of mine, a cop in Krugersdorp, the town supplies Hillbrow with drugs.
The whole area is owned by Nigerians.

Serious winds down here in Cape Town. Lots of rain too. Big blue gum fell over in my street and moered a jeep. Met guy I know reckons we had 60 knot gusts at some stations. That's close to Cat 1 hurricane strength. Our church is taking some families from Khayelitsha whose homes were destroyed. Look out for donation requests from reputable charities and give what you can. Gift of the Givers delivers good value!
Decided to have a katana made. By my knifesmith. We are working through the material details currently. I am going fully functional. Stainless gets brittle over distance so only suitable for decorative. It would have to be high carbon. Leaf spring has silicone in its make up which is great for returning back to shape and flexibility. Going for a harmon finish on the blade. Still a long way to go as it's anticipated to take 6 months to a year. So have time to finalize details in the handle parts. These will all be hand made. The guard , when I have finalized the design, will be laser cut and engraved. I am going for the blood thirsty look. I love red in my handle
It's not cheap so I will pay over the 6 months to ease the pain

Springs CBD is 100 keer erger oom.

Central beach at Plettenberg Bay yesterday.
Waist deep water. RIP to the young lady who got taken!

Can you believe that our vokkop of a government wants to do Shark cage diving off Strandfontein beaches. I don't know if any of the old time surfers surfed Cemetery. I have had many Sharky experiences there. Now they want to chum for great White's with people in cages teasing the vokkers.assfly wrote: Tue Sep 27, 2022 5:34 am Terrible story. For those of you running generators at work, how are you coping? We've spent an absolute fortune on diesel in the last three weeks, with no end in sight. I can only imagine how many sme's are closing up shop as a result of this.

I sent my wife a wattsap video of all the shops around me and including me with our Jenny's running. It's a joke. But at least we are getting a full days production.LoveOfTheGame wrote: Wed Sep 28, 2022 12:53 pm For those of you running generators at work, how are you coping? It was just funny to see all the Jenny's outside all the buildings running at the same time

We have 2 x 200kva and 2 x 65kva gensets running. And the shitty part is we cannot switch the two big one's off at night. So they keep running. I swear I'm developing some sort of PTSD!Sards wrote: Wed Sep 28, 2022 1:01 pmI sent my wife a wattsap video of all the shops around me and including me with our Jenny's running. It's a joke. Honestly, I don't know. I'm not there so I can't really talk to the feeling on the ground.
But sometimes the passivity of South Africans reminds me of Zimbabwe's descent into turmoil.

No Great Whites have been seen in False Bay for several years now. Doubt any amount of chumming will bring them back. Many theories about why they disappeared but there are two orcas called Port and Starboard who are thought to have taken them out. They are still patrolling the bay and they apparently attack the sharks and eat their livers.Sards wrote: Wed Sep 28, 2022 12:21 pmCan you believe that our vokkop of a government wants to do Shark cage diving off Strandfontein beaches.
