The defensive domination of the top picks is probably a reflection on the crop of quarterbacks available as usually at least one goes straight out the door to a team as the next franchise hope.

It’s a poor quality draft this year. Probably a knock on from the 2020 season having so little play.

Finally got around to watching Kaepernicks documentary. Overall I thought it was good not great, but disorganised.

The point about the NFL business model being akin to slavery in the sense that white capitalists select black bodies at the combines and the draft like slaveowners did at the auctions was excellent.

However, I feel like he didn't build out on that point to demonstrate that capitalism has actually always been about exploiting black people.

Jesus, if the stuff about the newly drafted and quickly released Bills punter is proven, he is off to jail for a long time. Alleged gang rape of a 17 year old!

Slightly weird though - she went straight to police but the case is civil not criminal at the moment

It's an idiotic point that straddles the line between asinine and offensive.

Playing fantasy football for the first time in years; naturally (for no reason in particular) I'd actually kind of fallen off the NFL the past season and a half, so half of my team (including my first round pick Najee Harris) I'd never really heard of or knew much about. Unfortunately I'm also playing for money...

The league's a bit different as passing touchdowns are worth the same as running and receiving TDs, plus you get three defensive players (with a point for every tackle, and 4 points for a sack). But other than that it is a typical point per reception league, so pass catching RBs are quite valuable.

My team off the top my head:

Najee Harris
Travis Kelce
Justin Herbert
Darnell Mooney
David Montgomery
Brandon Cooks
Devin Singletary
Michael Thomas (who apparently has struggled with injuries recently)
Nick Bosa
CJ Mosley
Daniel Carlson
Tyler Boyd
Darius Leonard (who now apparently goes by Shaq Leonard)
+ random scrubs

Someone tell me if this is good

They might be looking good for their chance to lose their fifth Superbowl.

I have Monday off,so I can probably justify watching the Red Zone for most of it during the night. Although the Jets will get manshamed by the Ravens.

We were good. Still sloppy at times though. Both lines much better than last season. Only 1 game in though, Henry a big test next week.

The Jets would get manshamed by a team from the lingerie league.

Once Namath dies and the Devil collects on the contract we'll be fine.

Great 4th quarter fightback by the Dolphins to beat the Ravens 42-38.

Loving the angry Denver fans who were dumb enough to think Russell Wilson was their new Messiah 😂😂🤣

After they’ve given him a five year, $245million contract with $165million guaranteed 😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣

Broncos and Colts end regulation time at 9-all in Denver, and the home fans are booing because the game's going to OT.

It really shows how awful the Adams trade was.

If I were a Denver fan I would hate this deal. They're aren't a QB away from a run at the SB, have given away 2 1sts including a top 10 pick this year and when Wilsons deal is up.in 2 years they'll have to pay whatever he asks because of what they gave up to get him. Paying a 35/36 year old Wilson 40m+ won't be smart business.

They might benefit from the harder schedule the Chiefs have.
Would still hate it if I were a Denver fan. 49m a year he is averaging until he's 38. Massive error

The Vikings just made NFL history by coming back from 33-0 down at HT to beat the Colts 39-36 in OT.

Watching the Bill-Bengals game and there's just been a very nasty incident... Buffalo safety Damar Hamlin went down after making a hit and was given CPR for over 10 minutes. Just been taken away by ambulance after being given oxygen. Not good at all.

The game's been suspended and the teams have left the field. Bills looking shocked, with some players in tears. Fuck knows how they're going to possibly want to finish the game.

Was an awful situation on Monday. Hopefully he is on the path to recovery.

As a Bills fan I couldn't care less about the seeding (likely to lose the 1 seed) but it will be interesting to see how the NFL deal with it.

Hamlin's charity now up to 6m in donations.

Godell will do whatever the arseholes who own the teams tell him to, especially Jerry Jones.

Up to a point. There is no slot to play / finish this game. The owners can howl if they want, but the players association is pretty powerful. It can’t be played midweek and the playoffs start in ten days.

It just won’t be played.

Hamlin is still critically ill in ICU, but this is somewhat encouraging:
Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, who suffered a cardiac arrest during Monday's game against the Bengals, is beginning to awaken and has had "substantial improvement in his condition over the past 24 hours," two UC Health physicians involved in his care said Thursday during a conference call.

"We had significant concern about him after the injury and after the event that happened on the field, but he is making substantial progress. As of this morning, he is beginning to awaken, and it appears that his neurological condition and function is intact.

He is now communicating (written) and asked if the Bills won. Answer from the Doctors: "Yes Damar, you won. You won the game of life."

It will be interesting to hear the underlying cause. Undiagnosed condition or could it be a cardiac event caused by the hit to the chest. Either way, glad to know he is picking up.

Well, the one college football game I watch a year was a total rout. SEC still king.

(Actually, I did bother to watch my Missouri Tigers take on Georgia earlier this year; put up a better fight than TCU did anyway, albeit with waaaaaay lower stakes. But man, this tight end they got, Brock Bowers, just a man among boys. He will have to play another year before he's allowed to enter the draft, but frankly if someone will take you, you should be allowed to go, especially in this sport where every time he takes the field he's one safety-launching-his helmet-into-his-knees away from losing tens of millions of dollars. But he could eclipse the likes of Kelce and Gronk, he's that good)

Yeah, the national championship game was a disappointment after two great semifinals last week.

12 team playoff starts next year. Not yet convinced about it but the bowls seem to be dying outside of the New Year Six and a couple of others.

Onward to the draft, a few months of arguing about whether Chicago are going to say Justin Fields is their guy or do they use the first pick on Bryce Young (who I think has bust written all over him). Talent evaluation still very difficult, all of the eligible players are a year behind in their development.

Bears should trade out if at all possible especially as they don't have their 2nd rounder. I suspect the Cardinals will try and move back too. Third pick should be valuable and they are tied to Kyler.

And just over a week later, Quay Walker shoves a medic trying to get to an injured player during the Packers/Lions game. And I don't know why the second Packer, who barges into his back is getting a free pass. Stupid pricks

Super Bowl LVII kicking off shortly.

Chiefs vs Eagles. Hopefully Mahomes' ankle will be OK.

Really looking forward to this one.
