Super 6 with Ayr Bulls but he's from Auckland. I think you're maybe thinking of the Embra hooker from Ulster.

Good team.
It's interesting the Savala is starting ahead of Jaco.
Good the see that many of internationals will be playing their part.
edit, from the club's announcement
Unavailable: Wes Goosen, Jake Henry, Mesu Kunavula
we knew about Goosen, Henry must have picked up a knock but I was hearing good things about him - back three is looking pretty strong at the moment.
I don't recall hearing about an injury to Kunavula, but I didn't see him in any of the preseason photos in training or the games. I hope it's nothing serious.

Good looking team, very strong looking bench. Have to worry they'll be significantly undercooked though.

Glasgow not looking much different from last season so far, all fart no shite.
They've picked a bigger pack but are getting done in the tight - especially the scrum.KingBlairhorn wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 5:03 pm Glasgow not looking much different from last season so far, all fart no shite.

That looked a try to me. Surely that went backwards? Glasgow very lucky.

Benetton are no mugs at home, but Glasgow have been very poor
Clearly but it made no difference in the end.KingBlairhorn wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 5:46 pm That looked a try to me. Surely that went backwards? Glasgow very lucky.
I suppose we shouldn’t read too much into the game last night- first game, very disrupted pre season, new coach - it was still a bit of a worry.
Benetton were denied a try that looked OK to every one except the ref and missed 3 lockable penalties. Also when the cavalry came in their wasn’t any real discernible difference, Fagerson aside.
I’m sure they will get better. My main worry is them losing a ton of support on match days

Chris Dean couldn't pass for toffee when he first started at Embra.
He's now one of the best distributers from 12 in the game, imo of course.
We look like we are still in preseason, but when we get a couple of phases going we look fairly good. We need to get a period of possession going early in the second half

Well that was a very impressive start. Perhaps even more than the lovely tries in the 2nd half was scoring 3 by keeping it tight in the 1st half when under pressure from the Dragons, not sure they would have done that last year.
Dean, Ritchie, Crosby, Graham, Bennett and Kinghorn with his cameo all excellent, Mata looking good.
If you were being hyper critical, lineout wasn’t great, might suffer not having a deadeye kicker at some point, too many players with their socks rolled down, probably won’t come up against a more stupid team.

Boff is the deadeye kicker.
Kinghorn did okay in the summer for Scotland. I assume they were protecting his hamstrings tonight by only having him take the one pot at goal.
We did okay once we got going, South African sides are not going to be so flaky and give us time to settle, we need to be hitting the ground at full tilt next week
General view in the ground from who I spoke to was the first twenty minutes was sheesh, not encouraging, but then got a bit of carrying work going in the forwards , got a couple before half time and then Kinghorn unleashed the backs in the second half.
Good win with plenty to work on. TH is correct, Boff is the nailed on kicker.

And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?
Yes, to be honest I’d completely forgotten about Boff when writing thatBiffer wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 12:07 am General view in the ground from who I spoke to was the first twenty minutes was sheesh, not encouraging, but then got a bit of carrying work going in the forwards , got a couple before half time and then Kinghorn unleashed the backs in the second half.

I didn’t think the first 20 was awful, Dragons were fired up and extremely physical. If anything I thought it was a step forward that they soaked it up and then found a different way to score. In saying that there were definitely a few cobwebs that were being blown away as well

Problem of course is we won’t see much of Boff until December. Might see him somewhere in Benneton/ Zebre / Cardiff sequence then he’ll have the AIs.Slick wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 6:31 amYes, to be honest I’d completely forgotten about Boff when writing thatBiffer wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 12:07 am General view in the ground from who I spoke to was the first twenty minutes was sheesh, not encouraging, but then got a bit of carrying work going in the forwards , got a couple before half time and then Kinghorn unleashed the backs in the second half.

Worry about burnout for the guy as well, went straight from our season into the Arg v Sco games, then RC then back to Edinburgh.

I think we're moving to a pre season similar to the NFL, fewer games and less time for the "1s" so the first 20min was always going to be a bit rusty.
Very good last 60min. Kinghorn looked very sharp in his cameo. Darcy, Bennett, Crosbie and Ritchie looked good throughout.

I think basically our pre-season is extending into the season proper and we were still selecting and making substitutions for building match fitness purposes last night. We are fortunate that we had Dragons first up and not one of the Irish or SA teams.Big D wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 12:24 pm I think we're moving to a pre season similar to the NFL, fewer games and less time for the "1s" so the first 20min was always going to be a bit rusty.

Line out definitely needs sorting quickly, it was poor last week as well.

I think the lineout improved as the game went on, it could be that all the fight went out of the Dragons, but that set piece seemed to get better as we shook the rust off
Well that was a nice game to watch after a night shift. Was a bit concerned during the first 20 minutes that the game would either way and the wrong way at that. Solid team performance and once they found their feet was very enjoyable. Marshall Sykes btw
