Yes albeit one helluva fortunate coincidence - although rail traffic might be frequent enough to make it fair odds
What's going on in Ukraine?

Trains also run to a schedule, but even then, your timing is going to have to be very good, when the you're moving a say 100kph, & the train could be going at the same speed .tabascoboy wrote: ↑Fri Oct 14, 2022 3:58 pmYes albeit one helluva fortunate coincidence - although rail traffic might be frequent enough to make it fair odds
that and add in a bit of observation and you could certainly work it to increase the odds slightly in your favour, but I'm not convinced it goes anything beyond thattabascoboy wrote: ↑Fri Oct 14, 2022 3:58 pmYes albeit one helluva fortunate coincidence - although rail traffic might be frequent enough to make it fair odds

This is really significant, & just shows what a load of horseshit putain is spouting, when he says he'll launch no more strikes.
The Kalibr is probably their best cruise missile, & comes in multiple versions for Land, Sea, & Air, but they are now all so depleted, that they are having to use the most expensive, & rarest of them to blowup playgrounds, & electrical substations, & generally terrorise civilians.
The Orcs expended hundreds of millions of dollars or ordinance, to kill a couple of dozen civilians, & temporarily turn off power to many others; all because putain, was embarrassed with his bridge getting blown up !
The Orcs, right now, have almost zero ability to carry out precision strikes, apart from what they can reach with slow, suicide drones. They've also probably shot so many rounds from their tube artillery, that until they replace the barrels, they'll be lucky to drop a shell within a hundred meters of where they aim, & the only way to hit something, it to fire 10x the rounds you have & hope for the best. So they've no counter-battery, no deep strike, & precision attack of note.

Well when your life expectancy is measured in days ....
No guarantee that this is true but one account I read suggested there was a spat over an officer calling this a holy war and then insulting Islam. Melee between two groups of mobiks ensues. Later, they shot him (and others) during a live fire exercise as revenge for the slight / fight.
Whatever the truth, it's yet another bizarre incident in this madness!

Karma? Would be just that if it's one of the bombers they've been using to launch missiles into UA

Remember what I said about their tube artillary being shot to shit ?
although I'm not sure about the commanders solution to the problem

Another large-scale exchange of prisoners was carried out today. Emotional and truly special - we freed 108 women from captivity.
Mothers and daughters were in captivity, and their relatives were waiting for them.
37 evacuees from Azovstal, 11 officers, 85 privates and sergeants.
Now all the girls will undergo a medical examination and rehabilitation. They will hug their relatives, their children, recover. Thank you for the excellent work of the Coordinating Staff on the Treatment of Prisoners of War and everyone involved.

Still seems to be pretty much radio silence about current operations from either side, Russian's still attacking Bakhmut and getting nowhere. Their plane that dive bombed their own city the other day and killed at least 13
was confirmed to be an SU-34. Headlines still revolving mainly around indiscriminate drone and missile attack on cities from Russia while they expect shit to go down around Kherson.

Rumours ( as ever, rumours ) that the Security Council of Russia could introduce nationwide Martial Law at a meeting tomorrow. Think they may be concerned about the effect the loss of control of Kherson city might have, and some ambiguous announcements about making "hard decisions". Let's hope they don't do something utterly stupid - Defence Secretary Ben Wallace is in Washington to discuss "shared security concerns".

I believe that dam supplies all the water to Crimea, so I doubt that'll happen; but the Orcs must know that it represents a target for the Ukranians, & they might continue their scorched earth attacks, & blow it ?

Apparently it'll flood the land on the Russian side, rather than the Ukrainian side. Would it make a river crossing more difficult for Ukraine I wonder?

that makes sense, but they'd be cutting the throats of all of the Orcs to the west of the Dnipro; & if the flood the low lands, the river will go down further upstream, making crossing much easier.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 9:00 pm Apparently it'll flood the land on the Russian side, rather than the Ukrainian side. Seems more likely that when rather than if Russia withdraw from the city of Kherson, they will set up a massive conventional artillery and missile barrage to level the city with the UA troops within, this is their default "strategy" after all.
They have done this on the border for months and all freed area.tabascoboy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 8:07 am Seems more likely that when rather than if Russia withdraw from the city of Kherson, they will set up a massive conventional artillery and missile barrage to level the city with the UA troops within, this is their default "strategy" after all.
Not sure there is a way out of this mess untill the current russian power structure is in place.

BBC News - Ukraine war: Russia begins evacuation from Kherson in south
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-63311744
Could just be human shields to cover their retreat.

I don't see how they can hope to achieve this.tabascoboy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 8:07 am Seems more likely that when rather than if Russia withdraw from the city of Kherson, they will set up a massive conventional artillery and missile barrage to level the city with the UA troops within, this is their default "strategy" after all.
Their artillery is lucky to get a round within a couple of hundred meters of its target; so what you say, they just throw more rounds at the target; but to do that, you have to leave your guns sitting in the same spot, & run logistics to that spot, with a continuous line of trucks bring ammo.
If they do that the Ukrainians will kill them all, & blow up the ammo dumps, on the other end of those trucks journeys !
The Orcs only sustainable use of towed artillery is shoot & scoot, otherwise they die, unless they achieve air supremacy, & I don't think even Putin is that crazy.
Missiles you say, what missiles ? There's increasing evidence they're running out of any with the accuracy required, & the ones they have, they're wasting on scorched earth targets.
I think the Orcs are shortening their lines for the winter, & are trying to make it as unpleasant as possible for the civilians, maybe force Kyiv to settle.

As Uncle Fester said, you have to factor in using human shields - plus what Russia hopes to do and what they actually are capable of are different things. They show little capability of changing tactics and agreed they are running out of options anyway as they keep using up resources they can't quickly replace thanks to logistical problems.fishfoodie wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 10:18 amI don't see how they can hope to achieve this.tabascoboy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 8:07 am Seems more likely that when rather than if Russia withdraw from the city of Kherson, they will set up a massive conventional artillery and missile barrage to level the city with the UA troops within, this is their default "strategy" after all.

Reckon they don't care too much for accuracy as we keep seeing, just send suicide drones and non precision missiles/rockets to terrorise with the unpredictability of landings simply adding to the general fear factor. UA will slowly be getting more air defence, which will help of course and hopefully without too much delay. The immediate priority for RU is to try and make access to Crimea for UA forces too costly and difficult.

News blackout continues, but rumours abound that life in occupied Kherson north of the river and northern Zaporizhzhia is getting uncomfortable for the invaders
