Think yellow is probably fair there. Playing far too much rugby in our own half

Amazing the TMO managed to check that, but couldn't find a decent angle for the kiwi high tackle

That’s a shame.
Congrats NZ, did enough to deserve that in my view.
Should also give a shout out to the ref, having the balls to call pens in the second half of a world cup final against NZ at Eden Park is as we know not a universal phenomenon.

Well done, but incredible effort from England to play for more than 60 minutes against the BF with 14 players and only lose by 3.

Absolutely...

technically the better of the two teams I think. Control, discipline, smarts... no RC and it goes their way.

Have to say I’ve loved every women’s game I’ve been to or watched on the TV over the last 2 years, it’s how rugby should be played and used to be played.

Shame that TMO decision will spoil it for some - FWIW, I think it was a ridiculous intervention but England had a chance to win it and screwed it so hope there isn’t any focus on it beyond a discussion on what the TMO is actually for

If you're talking about the red there was no question. It did affect the game in that England couldn't cope with the kiwis spreading the ball wide and also got tired, but that's just tough. The TMO also didn't kick the sodding thing out on the full, or fail to notice that the kiwis had started contesting the line out effectively.

I think TMO interventions need to be more tightly controlled because it's increasingly haphazard on what they do or don't spot and it wrecks the flow of the game. In the prem it's also noticeable that commentators try to influence them, particularly Healey.

Anyway, deserved win for the black ferns and a great advert for the game all round.

Talking about the one where the TMO said the NZ player didn’t touch the ball in flight. Wouldn’t have been checked if there hadn’t been a break in play for him to do it. We need clarity on what the TMO is for - is it every decision they have time to check?

Yeah I agree. It's maddening. I also didn't like the yellow for the high tackle, in a game that's facing an existential crisis because of brain damage officials shouldn't be mitigating high shots in such a casual way.

On the line out intervention, I did wonder at the time what would have happened if it had been taken relatively quickly. It appeared to me as if the TMO only checked whether the ball had been touched because the ref had called time off to allow Poppy Cleal to be treated. Having said that, the ball wasn't touched, so we can't complain that the right decision was reached.

Both teams played superbly for the whole match, and this and both semi-finals have been fantastic adverts for rugby as a game, and for the women's game as well. If only the England men's team could play with even a modicum of the same level of skill and intelligence shown by the women.

Roos made far too many errors conceding possession to be a candidate — in fact, she'd be just about the only one of the starting forwards who wouldn't be considered.

Fluhler though was great. As was Cocksedge.
