Dude...I can always put on the air-conditioning and keep warm throughout the night. Its actually not bad snuggling up to blankets. Besides I am too cheap to waste electricity if theres a viable option.

I can sometimes easily be influencd by a proper debate. Example: my discussion with AC a couple of years ago regarding my views on abortions. Whilst I didn't make a 360º turn, my view on it has definitely changed.

This name calling, and selective quoting without discussing my main view, or even acknowledging that I have, and is entitled to have a different view on a matter without being smeared, is typical modern day Internet prosecute.

However, the following deserves a special mention:

Blake wrote: Mon Aug 31, 2020 7:51 am
That being said, Trogs also seems to be falling down some internet conspiracy theory rabbit holes that has me worried. I suppose with this Mason connections he was always going to be pre-disposed to that world. While I don't think Nipper's tactics are productive, I do believe that some ideas need to be challenged and sometimes aggressively so.

On page 11 of this thread he mainly agreed with me. I was making exactly the same point as now, yet somehow Blake decided that I'm now talking bollocks - the same bollocks he "mainly agreed with" (and made good, intelligent points that made sense).

However, it's the post about me being a Freemason that just completely stunned me. 48 years and 8 months on this planet, I thought I'd seen the worst of stupid things people can say. This point of his is however the stupidest thing I've ever read our hard. And this coming from a supposedly well educated, legal professional.

So basically Blake is making up a conspiracy theory that the Masons, the biggest subject of conspiracy theories on the Internet, are conspiracy theorists

Blake, you showed such a huge misconception of what Freemasonry is, that I'm sure not even single cell organisms will believe. At least most conspiracy theories on the Internet has some small basis in truth, but they then just misinterpret them. This conspiracy theory of Blake is however something that not even Alex Jones or David Icke can make up.

anyone struggling with sleep.
Ok its fair to say I have a lot on my mind but I am very good at dealing with that . I long ago learned not to worry about what can or can't be. But I am waking around 3 am and end up on the couch downstairs cuddled under a blanket eventually falling back to sleep watching History Channel. So around 4.30...awake at 6. Asleep at around 10.30 pm. At night.

Apparently 36 percent of the population is struggling with sleep since Covid.

It’s stress. We all feel it these days and sleep is the first to suffer. Exercise helps (I know it’s freezing where you are) and try breaking your nightly “going down to the couch” routine.

We can unpack that if you like, but I think you are reading more into my comment than was intended.

Never said you were talking bollocks. Some minor disagreements with you on Covid but yes I mostly agree with you.
Broad strokes: The virus is real, lockdown was necessary, some of the regulations were ill conceived and even harmful. Lots of people are suffering needlessly, either financially or mentally or both.
My comment on thins thread regarding you wasn't Covid specific, but regarding a number of disagreements we've had on the odd occasion you posted again, and I just spotted the same trend in your comments that I've spotted with others who went down that rabbit hole is all.

If you are referring to me, then you are mistaken as I am not, and have never claimed to be, a legal professional.
Also, it was a one liner that I think you are reading waaaaaayyyyyy too much into.

Putting a lot of words in my mouth there boet, all based on one like line. Sometimes, it pays to be generous with the interpretation of others words, and not ascribe ill intent when there wasn't any...even in this shitshow of a forum.

What I meant to imply (maybe unjustly) was that, in my experience, people that join such organisations, clubs and secret societies, well-meaning like the masons or otherwise, in my experience have a compulsion or need to have a sense of belonging and acceptance by others, and this leaves them predisposed and sometimes susceptible to conspiracy theories. While I can't prove it, it wouldn't surprise me if there is a significant overlap between conspiracy theorists and people that belong to groups like the Masons, nor is it not surprising to me that there is a massive overlap between religious groups and Covid conspiracy theories.

It wasn't intended as an insult, or to smear the Masons. I honestly don't give two shits about them and know even less about their activities, purpose or membership requirements.
But as long as they don't do harm, and don't discriminate, I have no issue with them.

what an amazing Friday this has been.
First time in 13 years that my wife and I have come home from different offices. And First time since lockdown that we have come from the offices and left it all behind there....
Our home feels empty...no more laptops, server's and computers lying around all over the house...( except the 2 kids laptops...I really wish they could go back to a full week...)And the desks and filing cabinets are all gone.
It feels strange to be able to switch off from work when you get home.

It feels great.....amazing....awesome.....

Come on Covid...we have survived you....time to get our lives back to normal.

For me, I switch of on the 30 minute drive back home. Been tough to do it in my first working decade, in the second decade much easier. One owe it to your family to be there 100%, so try to put that cellphone far away.

Working can home can be a real test for families. That diving line between the office and home life used to be quite clear, but now it has become blurred. All of a sudden everyone seems ok with work phone calls at any time of the evening. I even found myself checking my e-mails before I went to bed, which looking back is ridiculous.

That's why I ended up going back to work in the office as soon as I could. Took work e-mails off my phone and I only bring my laptop home to stream rugby.

I worked at home for a number of years, only going into the office occasionally, or traveling to customers around the country. At home and as my kids had already left, I was able to have my office purely for work, and avoided it out of work hours. But, without all the commuting back and from work, I reckon I got in an extra hours work every day.

How do you guys feel about the kids going back to a full week at school. I am so keen for it. The kids are getting too used to being at home most of the week with 2 days of school ( 3 every alternative week).
Emotionally it must be devastating for the kids...

We are fortunate, my daughter finished matric last year. Lockdown was still a bitch, as the time at home and the introspection and uncertainty made her go from first year B.Sc. at Wits to now doing a B.Com at Stellenbosch next year.

Feel most sorry for the kids still at school. I know a number of boys who were on the periphery of the 1st rugby team last year who have now missed out completely. It is no exaggeration that they had been working towards matric for many many years. Uncertainty regarding scholarships etc. must be a real ball ache for kids and parents. Conversely, guys who were supposed to play young guns this year have also been left in limbo. Still, the sport aspect is probably the least of the kids' issues.
