Joe has set the bar rather high, but Harris will still be a better president than him imho.

Her name will be mentioned alongside the other greats like JFK, Obama and Clinton.

Some rules changes that Republicans made starting this new term:
—Smoking is now allowed indoors (US Capitol)
—The House ethics committee is now gutted
—Women lawmakers have to cover their arms (Missouri legislature)

Their goal is to own the libs, not to govern in any appreciable way. It's the combination of the deliberate inactivity of the Turtle Mitch days, linked to the fucking stupidity, sexism and racism the MAGA cult.

You don't meet a lot of arm guys, but if that's your thing I shan't judge.

Mostly why they can't just say professional business dress required and then assume people can be adult about it I don't know. But who knows, perhaps they're suffering spate of inappropriately attired womb providers attending their legislative sessions

The arm thing perhaps resonates more with me, as it's a orthodox jewish thing. It's a religious thing, rather than a business attire thing.

.... or is this some kind of bullshit that makes the US look more like Afghanistan, or Iran ?

A group of GOP Wyoming state lawmakers want to end electric vehicle sales there by 2035, saying the move will help safeguard the oil and gas industries.

The measure, introduced to the state legislature on Friday, was sponsored by six state legislators, who said in it that electric vehicles will hinder Wyoming’s ability to trade with other states. The bill states that citizens and industries would be encouraged not to purchase electric vehicles before the ban goes into effect.

“The proliferation of electric vehicles at the expense of gas-powered vehicles will have deleterious impacts on Wyoming’s communities and will be detrimental to Wyoming’s economy and the ability for the country to efficiently engage in commerce,” the bill reads.

I’d have thought it would make more (although still not much) sense to ban sales until 2035 to allow more time for transition. And anyway don’t they believe in individual freedom?

Yeah right, first it wasn’t a bill it was a resolution by only few Cowboy ment lawmakers that proposed to ban the sale of new EVs in the entire state by 2035, but the measure was shot down after a lively debate, this was because California's plans to make gasoline-powered cars illegal in 2035.

Everything these guys touch is classified to some degree or other, & they have hundreds of documents going thru their offices on any given day.

The system is apparently good at classifying the documents, but shit at tracking them, & ensuring they are all where they're supposed to be, & in the possession of individual, or office they're supposed to be.

Having been a librarian, I'm willing to bet that once someone called Margery or Dolores or Helen retired tracking of records probably went to shit. Younger ones brought in the RFID system despite her misgivings but rolled it out before everything was properly sorted. :lolno:

A great honor to have won the Senior Club Championship at Trump International Golf Club, one of the best courses in the Country, in Palm Beach County, Florida. Competed against many fine golfers, and was hitting the ball long and straight. The reason that I announce this on fabulous TRUTH is that, in a very real way, it serves as a physical exam, only MUCH tougher. You need strength and stamina to WIN, & I have strength & stamina - most others don’t. You also need strength & stamina to GOVERN!
Apart from the fact he didn't play the first round, submitted a score from earlier in the week claiming he was 5 shots ahead of the overnight leader, much to his suprise!..

Ha !

I suppose the Feds will just have to make do with the 3-4x obstruction charges, the lying to Federal officers, & sundry other charges.

As is usually the case; it isn't the foundational offence that ends up the problem; it's the moronic cover-up attempt, & all the lies surrounding it.

The George Santos story is now just a weeping pustule for the GOP. If they didn't need his seat so badly, they'd dump him like the toxic, dumpster fire he is.

The latest is that, surprise surprise, his campaign finances, that always looked very suspicious, were a pack of lies !

I know, shocking

He's had to submit a completely different set of records, that show that he lied thru his teeth when he claimed he loaned money to his own campaign, & worse yet, someone forged the signature of the new Treasurer he claimed to have appointed, but this new treasurer denies having anything to do with him, or his campaign.

This is a very important document, & a Federal one; so whoever carried out that forgery is now in fathoms of shit, & should either look for a plea deal, very, very quickly, or get themselves a very good lawyer.

The DNC had a really good Mid-Terms, so them getting another seat will be a huge win, & will put McCarthy in a miserable position.

We'll have to see if, when they pull the thread of Santos getting elected, we get something bigger, like who the fuck donated $750k to get the lying prick elected, & who knew he was a complete fraud, & that could have knock on impacts.

Looks like whateverhisnameis, is proper fucked now.

The latest reports are that the DOJ has asked the FEC to park their investigations, which would be civil actions, into the campaign finances.

This comes as reporters are digging into the donations to his campaign run in 2020, & they've uncovered numerous cases of donors who donated the maximum allowable amount, who just don't exist.

The debris field covered 11km...

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-64524105
Defence officials told US media the debris landed in 47ft (14m) of water - shallower than they had expected - near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The military is now trying to recover debris which is spread over seven miles (11km). Two naval ships, including one with a heavy crane for recovery, are in the area.

Manned, No !

They'd send up fighters & get close enough to take the pilots temperature, & try to force them down, & they'd send lots of Diplomats home, & close a few consulates etc, but once you start killing people you ratchet things up.

The US flew weather balloons with cameras across the USSR in the 50s for dogs sake

Surely at some stage they’d have to shoot it down, they couldn’t let a potentially hostile plane fly around with impunity for ever.

Again, in the 1950s Eisenhower proposed to the Soviets that they should have an, "Open Skies Policy", because he saw both sides being able to spy on the other as a good thing. The Soviets rejected the idea, & hence Garry Powers got shot down, but they also unintentionally opened the door to the US when they sent Sputnik into an orbit that went over the US. If the US had followed the Soviets example & shot it down, they would have invited tit for tat retaliation.

The fact is that hostile satellites fly over the US ever day, dozens of times, & they could, if they wanted to, shoot them down.

Ask yourself, what can they learn from a recon balloon that they couldn't learn from a satellite, or by secretly packing a civilian airplane with electronics, or just driving a van around the Mid-West ?

It's arguable that sending up fighters & shooting it down is a mistake because it gives the Chinese information on the radar systems, & flight performance etc, that they don't get if they just ignore the balloons.

But,but,but...
The Chinese Balloon situation is a disgrace, just like the Afghanistan horror show, and everything else surrounding the grossly incompetent Biden Administration. They are only good at cheating in elections, and disinformation — and now they are putting out that a Balloon was put up by China during the Trump Administration, in order to take the “heat” off the slow moving Biden fools. China had too much respect for “TRUMP” for this to have happened, and it NEVER did. JUST FAKE DISINFORMATION!
