An over-reaction, to put it mildly, but god above, what does this clown expect to happen.

Cook’s page contains clips of him acting as if he is vomiting on ride-sharing service drivers, making a fast-food restaurant employee nervous by going behind the establishment’s counter, and bothering people at stores.

It was a real scene, a melting pot. A great place to observe the human race strutting its stuff and we would all share the night’s madness over drinks after closing. We all noticed it and compared notes with workers from other bars. It was a popular theme with bar staff… lookout, here comes full moon night. Back to them climbing the walls and eating their own shit for a night.

Sure, I get that. However humans see patterns in everything, retroactively finding meaning in otherwise random events. Its a well known phenomena. Post hoc, ergo propter hoc and all that.

Is that a more likely explanation for your experience than how much sunlight is reflected off the Moon having a metaphysical effect on the psyche of human beings on Earth!!! Smacks a bit too much of "Mars is setting in Aries, while Jupitor crosses Orion" to me.

I highly recommend the Ethiopiques series of absolutely banging '60s and '70s jazz and funk. There are over two dozen volumes - I haven't heard them all, but my favourite so far is Volume 8: Swinging Addis.

Interesting stuff. My car has two vulnerable features... there's an app I can use to access the vehicle from my phone. Some owners are apparently leaving the key fob at home and just using their phones to operate the cars. The other is the supplied RFID type card you can use to access the car, by waving it over the hotspot receiver in the driver's wing mirror.

These features are sold as advantages.

You haven't had to deal with a car that only had one indicator working, so you had to plot a route home using only the functional one; or where you knew if you had to stop at a traffic lights, there was no guarantee the fucking thing would get off idle without stalling, so you were watching the lights from 400m out, & reving the shit out of it at the lights like it was a Le Mans start.

Years ago I remember Alonso's car breaking on the warm up lap, because there was a tiny amount of rain, & I quipped to my mates how I felt his pain because my FIAT was fucking awful in the rain too.

I've driven plenty of shit boxes that needed special tactics to negotiate the drive home from the pub. Best was my Honda motorbike... broke a throttle cable on a long ride so I rigged the return cable to open the throttles. That meant twisting the throttle backwards to accelerate and because I was broke and hopeless it took me weeks to buy a new cable. I got used to it and could blip the throttle on downchanges so most of my mates had no idea. Watching them try to ride it was hysterical.

I've forked out for some supposedly decent walking shoes for a month of travel, and they have like over a centimetre of height. Bought online

I've always bought cheap shoes and the sudden height makes me wonder, beyond what walking comfort benefits that may add, if many expensive "normal" shoes add extra height to the shoes to perhaps persuade continued purchase/brand loyalty through height confidence? Obviously some people buy thick sole shoes just for added height (and looks like there are dedicated "elevator shoes" for this), but wondering how necessary or subversive the height on these shoes are.

May be "obvious" to some others but when the most expensive shoes you've ever previously bought are cantab "on sale" £40 eight studders, well fashion experience is limited

Depends where you are going to go walking. If it's over broken rock in a riverbed or scree a proper sole is essential - your feet and sneakers won't survive that in dozens of locations in kiwiland for instance.

I have a pair of Salomons, among the most comfortable shoes or boots I've ever worn. After 3 long hiking trips in Nepal I've had to have them re soled and I've not used them much since then. I'm not sure how they'll go with what looks to be a more rigid sole. Wearing the original sole out that quickly was a disappointment.
