It's odd -the 1st Amendment (which also covers free speech) expressly forbids laws which mandate religion - the phraseology is 'Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion'

I appreciate that the constitution covers the Federation and the power of federal government, not the states, but if the states opt to ignore the spirit of the constitution on this point, how does that not weaken the argument that the right to bear arms under the 2nd Amendment needs to be respected?

Please excuse the pun, but the adherence to the law and spirit of the constitution is all very scattergun.

Too much of the news these days forces one to check if it is 1st of April.

If parents insist on their Bobby-Sue and Jim-Bob getting this sort of access to religion, they can put the little shits into church-run schools.

The mistake is in thinking that they have any sort of ideological consistency in the first place or that they care about being seen to have it. They don't and they know that the mean, small-minded people who support their oppressive ideals don't care. They just want to win and to impose the thing hodge podge of things they believe.

I don't agree with it in the slightest, but can understand where they're coming from with regards to doctors.

Insurance companies on the other hand.... They could surely just claim to be some ultra strict religious leaning group, and deny a ton of claims to make profit?

So Doctors should get to completely ignore their Hippocratic Oath to treat all patients ???

This is the State supporting the line of the scumbag fundamentalist companies who wanted to be able to deny health care coverage to their employees, if the particular healthcare needs of the employee didn't conform with the companies belief system.

I can’t imagine the life insurers would be very keen on it.

You missed the bit where I said I didn't agree with it then. Like the first bit.

Oh, and doctors don't really swear the oath anymore, and the oath prohibits abortion, so good job they don't.

and who are still insurable, a category that the Tuckster no longer belongs in.

I wonder what this means for any current, or future legal actions involving his time at Fox, & is he now going to have to pay his own legal fees ?

I am not a 2nd amendment/ anti-abortion/ anti-gay/ racist/ religious zealot, but last year I was in the US for business and inadvertently turned on the TV in my hotel room and Fox News was on with Tucker centre stage, and I thoroughly enjoyed his show  Never heard of the guy beforehand.

It was at the beginning of December that curly-haired crypto nerd was in the shit, and Tucker tore him to shreds for about an hour, as well as the rest of the liberal business men that had invited the cyrpto nerd to some conference (think it was MIT or Harvard Business School) where they could all inhale their own farts and pat each other on the back for being so "progressive."

My only time watching him tbf so can't comment further, but he was hilarious that night.

Is US politics, or at least the impression of it, so fucked that people think there not such a thing?

Given that the Crypto nerd apparently donated a ton of money to the Dems, can be exhibit A.

Nope... I'm questioning your blanket assertion (which betrays a bias). As for being a donor... how does that prove your point? You're just running on assumption.

Not just to the Dems, it appears.
SBF claims he gave tens of millions in untraceable donations to Republicans
Although federal election receipts show that Bankman-Fried donated almost exclusively to Democrats, he claimed on a November phone call with YouTuber Tiffany Fong that he donated an equal amount to Republicans and Democrats.

“All my Republican donations were dark,” he said, referring to political donations that are not publicly disclosed in FEC filings. “The reason was not for regulatory reasons, it’s because reporters freak the f—k out if you donate to Republicans. They’re all super liberal, and I didn’t want to have that fight.”

Elections are in a year and a half, hoping it’s a strategy not his ego. Let the naz party tears itself apart while the Dems show a united front, then Joe pass the buck.

Who is the next cab off the democrat rank behind Biden? Is it Harris?

Sadly, I could see her being quite a polarising candidate.

As I’ve said before the Dems have getting for 300 members of Congress and state governors and Biden is the pick of the bunch?

Only 2 governors might have a chance, Gavin Newsom, CA and Phil Murphy, NJ, the others aren’t known that much and also VP Kamala Harris could have a shot.

Well the GOP are now checkmated from trying to use Bidens age as any kind of attack vector.

Also read as people understandably question why someone would be giving money to both parties and the only reasonable answer is to curry influence with whoever gets into power. Strange how non-super wealthy people aren't a fan of that.

Disney’s lawsuit against him is politically motivated
