Im not from Australia chief. I don't know what your papers or channels are in the shops or on the telly. I just googled and threw up some sources. Are they all photo shopped or edited or something? Is that the consensus?

Its tough online sometimes. I post up a claim that i feel the treatment of that lady was heavy handed. It was contested and claimed she incited. Fair enough.. i found a clip of a fella who didnt incite but was also arrested...then the sources were "ad-hominem'd" . I went looking for others (some are admittedly questionable it transpires). I continue to look and find ABC which should pass the sniff test i think. Now its me that has to vouch for myself You cant make it up.

This isn't a left vs right thing. This is basic consider-the-source stuff that you need in order to navigate an internet full of misinformation, and in order not to spread said misinformation.

I think protests are a staple freedom of any civilised society. I think a lot of them (protests) are fucking moronic and I don't subscribe to what these particular protesters were advocating for but I defend their right to be able to do it.

Im not the media, whether they savaged them for the BLM ones or not is not my remit. Its a straw man argument. Ive seen what happened to this lady and this "ex soldier" and im not comfortable with it.

Just a heads up. On this forum the main groups of posters have tended to stick to their own national 'covid 19' threads. Given the tragic consequences of this global pandemic, sticking to our own threads has resulted in far fewer incidents of trolling or genuine 'misunderstandings'. It's easy for even well-intended posts to be misrepresented given the emotions linked to covid-19 and the fact that people are dying and fighting for the lives across every jurisdiction. The Victorian posters on this forum, who have effectively been in hard lockdown since March, might also be sensitive to your comments given we are now in September.

So given you have admitted to knowing little/nothing about the Australian context, and given that you have shown an inability to quality assure online links and sources, I suggest that to avoid future issues your best bet is to stick to a NH covid-19 thread. Lest you come across as a troll.

It's a free forum, you can comment wherever you like. But the reality is we aren't talking about a rugby match or which way you wipe your arse hole. We are talking about people dying and economies being utterly destroyed. Hence my comment about posters generally sticking to their own national covid threads. It's helped avoid misunderstanding and reduce trolling. Your comments on this thread lack any local context, and might annoy some Aussie posters as a result, especially Victorian based posters who've been in lockdown for 6 months. They are living under a curfew ffs, and you're here arguing that people should be able to protest.
