India has similar or worse overcrowding and it's not as if they have been left unscathed.
And it is maybe this and our youthful population that has resulted in this unexpected positive outcome.
Initially some suggested race might be a factor, but the bad outcomes among African Americans kind of debunked that. That being said, African Americans are also disproportionately afflicted to a number of critical comorbidities such as obesity, hypertension and diabetes due to poor diets, so that should also be factored in.
I for one can’t wait for this mystery and the asymptotic one to be uncovered as they hold the key to getting back to the way things were.
