A pretty miserable 13C with rain in the Manchester area currently, probably at least another hour of rain to come then time to clear the standing water puddles. If they take early lunch they could get a clearer slot for early afternoon at least.

England picking a player imbued with omniscience. Which is an odd claim given what Root did to Archer
I had considered that it was the catch that Root took and didn't claim or celebrate but dismissed it on the basis that nobody would be stupid enough to make it Root claimed it. Once again, I have overestimated Australia's Special Forces.

Didn't Root say he thought he'd caught it? He just didn't appeal in demonstrative fashion, which might only have been hang on a sec I might at least make them have a look piece of thinking
Give where his fingers were it could well have been a catch. Just once that's gone upstairs for a check there's no way it's being given, and quite reasonably so.

That's exactly what I was thinking

Agreed. They would have attacked.Biffer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 6:24 am The Aussies deserve to lose this series purely because they're playing such awful, negative cricket. This 7/8/9 men on the boundary shit is just a symptom of a complete lack of ideas on how to play England when they bat aggressively. It's dreadful stuff. I can't imagine Border, Taylor or Ponting having so little imagination.
With the fielders set there, anything that was playable by the batsmen would have been 2 or 3 every ball and so you effectively have to bowl 6 "wides" an over. McGrath would have refused to have bowled that sh*t.

It was Bairstow who said "that's out".Rhubarb & Custard wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 10:18 am Didn't Root say he thought he'd caught it? He just didn't appeal in demonstrative fashion, which might only have been hang on a sec I might at least make them have a look piece of thinking
Clearly he didn't know as his immediate reaction showed he wasn't sure. The "appeal" didn't go upstairs - the umpires thought it was best to check given no one was sure what happened. This is something that happens frequently in cricket and is exactly how it should be, much better than players enthusiastically claiming catches they have doubt about. You should watch it more regularly, then you wouldn't come across as such an idiot all the time.
What a load of absolute bullshit. You people just can't stop lying. You deserve the corrupt cesspit of a nation you are currently stewing in. Can't wait for Australia to become a Republic and we can finally fuck you off.....JM2K6 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 11:49 amClearly he didn't know as his immediate reaction showed he wasn't sure. Labushagne is a great flat track bully but can't play English conditions. He and Smith falling to the least likely bowler to take a wicket this series was at least as dim as anything Eng have been accused of.
FM.England were frustrated for a long period by Labuschagne, who made only his second overseas Test hundred

Not at Headingly....that was always going to be a bowl first with the overhead in the morning and expected weather.Enzedder wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2023 11:35 pmAussie would have batted first both times for the last 2 tests, I reckonThor Sedan wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2023 6:37 pm Game is easy when you play well and get to choose at the toss 4 out of 4.
Manchester....was probably a bowl first as well. That was certainly what the pundits were saying would happen.
I don't understand why Deepsouth is even arguing this? Once again. Bullshit. If Root didn't claim it why was he gesturing with his finger in a that's out motion or a let's take a look upstairs. He knew it wasn't out but did quite enough to not give that impression. The duplicitous prick. Android according to Piers and Broad it would be one of the biggest injustices known to man if the Australians drew because of the English weather. How awful are these one eyed sanctimonious arseholes. This is the same Broad who claimed the last Ashes series in Australia in which the English team were given a prison raping of 4-0 was null and void because the English team had been subject to bio security protocols. In the middle of a global pandemic for fucks sake. Poor little Stuart must have been very hard in that luxury hotel diddums
The entitlement and hypocrisy never ends. They are down 2-1 on their home soil and are now in grave danger of not regaining the Ashes on home soil once again. Like the last time. And when was the last time you actually won a series in Australia.? Or even 1 test match Lol.
You have to face facts. You aren't any good at sporting contests. That's why you have to import your talent. Take a good hard look at yourselves, we all know that what you will find there is not Prince Virtue. Very far from it indeed....

If anyone was left wondering who falls for Broad's comedy wind ups, here's your answer. Australia's finest sporting fans, everyone! As thick as a whale omelette and completely impervious to irony.Deepsouth wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 2:42 amOnce again. Bullshit. I'm talking Tests. England haven't won a test let alone a series in Australia since 2011. We make it more than competitive when we are in England. They get destroyed in Australia. Imported, yeah everyone in the UK was imported from somewhere else too. I'm talking about stuffing your team with Saffers, Kiwis, Jamaicans, and Irish, and having the temerity to call yourself the English cricket team. It's a clownshop.Biffer wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 6:37 am1. Pretty much everyone in Australia is importedDeepsouth wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 2:42 amOnce again. Bullshit. And it’s not my team, I’m Scottish. I don’t normally support England but this Aussie team is so stuffed with really unlikeable cunts that it’s difficult not to want England to win.

Seems to have stopped now, and does seem to be slowly moving away - but a lot of rain overnight so plenty of mopping up work needed. That said, the forecast is very poor...Gumboot wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 6:36 amBugger.Margin__Walker wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 5:54 am Hosing it down in the NW. Forecast looks rank. This game is done.
