The rain is coming from Ireland I believe

No it's you who have no idea. The state of your cricket and country indicates that. So after all the hullabaloo about the Cricket saving Bazball it turns out that it was nothing more than Bazzbawl.
England has failed to win the Ashes on home soil once again
Is there any sport you guys are good at lol.......
The state of our cricket? We're the reigning champions in 2 of the 3 formats, have turned around a slump in the Test team to be unbeaten in the last 5 series, and have just been robbed of the opportunity to finish off a spectacular shellacking of the #1 side in the world by 1.5 days of rain which would've tied up a fantastic series with one to play.Deepsouth wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 3:06 pmNo it's you who have no idea. It's genuinely comical watching you play all Billy Big Bollocks when your team has been saved from a battering by the rain, especially as you were too chickenshit to show your face after the previous defeat. Every normal cricket fan is loving this series - only a complete ignoramus has watched these 4 Tests and still thinks England are shit. All the bluster can't hide your relief at the weather intervening here, and nobody's fooled. Days of you crying your eyes out about Joe Root not claiming a catch he wasn't sure about really isn't giving you any moral high ground either
Nah your just not very good. You can't even beat this average Australian side on your home soil again. Back to back. Maybe you should schedule more Tests against Ireland and maybe Scotland. More your level I would have thoughtJM2K6 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 3:49 pmThe state of our cricket? Geez, you really are not bright at all, are you? 3 incredibly close games and one very one-sided one in favour of England but washed out, and you're acting like it's been 4 easy wins

But but we were told by Sir Baz and Sir Benny that results don't matter. Surely the Kiwi deities weren't being mendacious were they..
That doesn't make any sense. Style and the spirit of cricket are nothing to do with rain. There are animals in cosmetics testing laboratories that would post less gibberish than you're managing right now. Are you okay? Have we missed some coded cry for help in these posts that would explain their incredibly erratic and conspicuously nonsensical nature? Is there someone we should call to come get you?Deepsouth wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 4:15 pmBut but we were told by Sir Baz and Sir Benny that results don't matter. The fuck up was Edgbaston, not here. Threw a game away there
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember with advantages, What feats he did that day
Bairstow's selection and the lack of a good alternative to Leach, basically. England have had plenty of opportunities and wasted a lot of them - a large % of that is on Angry Johnny and his shit handsPaddington Bear wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 4:44 pm The fuck up was Edgbaston, not here. Pretty much. No one ever doubted he had the ability to pull off a knock like he did in this test, but our doubts about his keeping were proven again and again. Looks like he spent his injury lay off eating which can’t have helped.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 4:56 pmBairstow's selection and the lack of a good alternative to Leach, basically. Leach is just unfortunate, and given the turn and bounce Root got yesterday I have a feeling he might have run through them yesterday

Not surprising with England in particular. It's a team of mostly white ball cricketers playing red ball cricket. And it will get worse as white ball cricket pays better...
So Root didn't celebrate and suggested they have a look at it because he wasn't sure.
Mitchell Starc grassed it and has been whining like a puppy for the last couple of weeks because he wasn't given a catch that wasn't actually a catch. Yeah.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?
So Australia have again retained the Ashes in England with still the possibility of a winning series. We flogged England 4-0 last time in Oz. Again in 2019 we retained the Ashes on English soil and the series before that in Oz we peeled them once again 5-0..
I mean they just aren't very good at this game are they. Will England be able to achieve the hallowed status of a single test win in Australia in two years time. 1 single test match win.
C'mon England, C'mon England lol......

Yep, I suspected that the failure to select Foakes would come back to bite England. The problem's been Stokes' inability to bowl, which means he's essentially being picked as a batter, and there's no room for both a specialist keeper in Foakes and Bairstow as purely a batter.Paddington Bear wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 5:09 pmPretty much. Anyway, the series may be gone but England have the momentum going into The Oval test. Australia were comprehensively outplayed at Old Trafford, and were surprisingly flat coming off a 9-day break. The loss of Lyon has created extra work, and pressure, for the quicks. Conversely, the Aussie batters have struggled to cope with Wood's extra pace, and England suddenly looks like it has such a wealth of fast bowling depth that an all-time great in Anderson may miss out on form.
Plenty still to play for, then. As a neutral, I'm loving this Ashes series. Just wish I could watch more of it live.

I am still struggling to believe that England didn't get up and win this series. I have been banging on about it - but home advantage, 4 wins out of 4 for the toss - they should have been far and away.
They are definitely the better bowling and batting side - BUT - 18 catches dropped (Root and Stokes 6 each and JB 5) - drops which resulted in 401 extra runs being scored. I find this amazing considering the premium that Baz puts on fielding in matches.
The best thing to come out of this is that piers morgan has been crying up a storm to rival the rains of Manchester - of course simply highlighting his own pleadings of rain in the 2013 Ashes. Anything that brings him displeasure is my happy place.

Scotland really giving it a bit of the long handle against Italy in the T20 WC qualifier - 109-1 after 10.

I know there's been chapter and verse said about the perils of bazball, but I think falling* for Oz's pretty crude tactics with the short ball in the first two tests also didn't help matters. Especially as we were within shouting distance in both.Thor Sedan wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 10:17 am I am still struggling to believe that England didn't get up and win this series. But dropped catches - as was ever the case in Test cricket - really didn't help.
* not in the sense of being suckered, just felt like we could have just opted to let short balls go a bit more - we'd already got them to react by putting men back.

Assume this is at the Grange? From memory, boundaries aren't that long, but even so that's some brutal hitting.
