Indeed, crazy that 66 from over 41,000 staff test positive, and opening the pubs was meant to be dangerous..
Yes, but given the fact the pub was filled with drinkers, how many others were infected by that 1 member of staff?, and then how many did they subsequently infect? etc etcBimbowomxn wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 11:23 amInsane_Homer wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 10:01 amPub chain JD Wetherspoon has reported more than 66 outbreaks of coronavirus at 50 of its outlets.A Wetherspoons spokesperson said of the 50 pubs affected, 40 have reported one worker testing positive for the coronavirus and six pubs have disclosed two.

66 in 41,000 seems to be a starting place to work out the odds.

861 open pubs, 50 with infected staff = 5.6%Since reopening on 4 July, the company said some 32 million people have visited its 861 open pubs.
32 million customers @ 5.6% exposure = 1,792,000 potentially exposed customers.

There’s no way half the population of the UK has been in a Wetherspoons in the last couple of months.Insane_Homer wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 1:24 pm861 open pubs, 50 with infected staff = 5.6%Since reopening on 4 July, the company said some 32 million people have visited its 861 open pubs.

No tests available, ever again?
Bit of context? We had a surge last week. One of ours got referred on Monday morning, test on Tuesday, result Wednesday evening. Second one referred on Tuesday morning, test on Thursday, result on Saturday. Just what happens with a surge in demand.

Really? I must update my dictionary.Insane_Homer wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 2:39 pmlast time I checked, the word currently didn't mean 'ever again'
You know what I meant. I don't think any system should always have capacity, that's not realistic. Which is why I asked for context. Is that highlighting no tests available for days or right, right now? If the latter, hardly newsworthy.

London is so quiet. I go in two days a week for work and it's sad how empty it is.
Just very little contact without even 1/3 full tubes, offices, limited people in restaurants etc. At least centrally.

Shooting to stay , fantastic news.great idea for cancelled kids parties replace them with shooting parties, they make great beaters.
Everyone gets a brace to take home.
On a practical note some level of shooting had to remain for animal and
Countryside conservation.
It’s also very very easy to socially distance.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this had some bearing on things.

You've been told so many times not to let your mind wander, it's far too naive to be unaccompanied..Bimbowomxn wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 5:13 pm Shooting to stay , fantastic news.great idea for cancelled kids parties replace them with shooting parties, they make great beaters.

Seriously? Are you out of your mind? What part of animal and wildlife conservation needs groups of 6 or more?
Rhino poaching, those horns are hard work to remove with an axe.TB63 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 7:57 pmYou've been told so many times not to let your mind wander, it's far too naive to be unaccompanied..Bimbowomxn wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 5:13 pm Shooting to stay , fantastic news.great idea for cancelled kids parties replace them with shooting parties, they make great beaters.

Interesting. Out here in the sticks they started enforcing that rigorously today. If you're not sat at a table, wear a mask or get out

Shoots. They need guns, beaters and if to be eco picker ups.
You fucking what. Are you claiming to know that these 66 staff members acquired the virus solely within the pub environment and could only pass it on at the same rate in the same environment?Bimbowomxn wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 12:32 pmASMO wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 11:30 amYes, but given the fact the pub was filled with drinkers, how many others were infected by that 1 member of staff?, and then how many did they subsequently infect? etc etcBimbowomxn wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 11:23 am

You have also assumed that the entire staff work in the pubs, aren't you.
Given the interaction of in-pub staff with other staff and the public, I think you might need to reevaluate your thinking.
Shoots are not part of animal and countryside conservation. They are purely for pleasure. Somehow being overun by grouse or pheasants doesn't seem to be a viable threat. The breeding season is over, the numbers are already there. Vast flocks of grouse haven't started dive bombing innocent members of public yet. Far fewer pheasants were penned this year. No need for organised shoots whatsoever. Mine has been postponed until we feel it's safe and sane to organise one again.Bimbowomxn wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 3:50 amTB63 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 7:57 pmYou've been told so many times not to let your mind wander, it's far too naive to be unaccompanied..Bimbowomxn wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 5:13 pm Shooting to stay , fantastic news.great idea for cancelled kids parties replace them with shooting parties, they make great beaters.

But you need to remember that the majority of grouse shoots in England are in and around Rishi Sunak's constituency so it's vital for the economy!!!TB63 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 7:20 amShoots are not part of animal and countryside conservation. I’m sorry your shoot doesn’t do any conservation work, mine does loads.
The partridge are already free, mostly French ..... the weak will not make it through to breed.
My shoot put less pheasants down, but same partridge.
Anyway let em rot hey.
Also lots more birds through to next seasons breed will cause lots more predators who you may of noticed aren’t fussy about what they kill.
What utter bollocks! So tell me where these "lots more predators" are coming from? Bussed in from the cities? Again, breeding season is over, a glut of weak birds you say? You think you're picking off the weak ones on a shoot? Think again, those fuckers fly, the weak ones don't...Bimbowomxn wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 8:57 amShoots are not part of animal and countryside conservation. They are purely for pleasure. Foxes, actively shot using a rifle, not on horse. Other predators? Sparrowhawk's? Oooh, massive threat.. What's next? Armed badgers? Ninja stoats?...
What shooting estates do is put a lot of work into maintaining what is, pretty much, an entirely artificial ecosystem which is managed in order to maximise shooting opportunities. It’s in no way a conservation effort in respect of natural environment, but it is an attempt to conserve a particular privileged lifestyle. The management of estates is actively damaging to hares, raptors, wildcats, foxes and other ground dwelling birds such as capercaillie. That’s on top of maintaining an artificial landscape where vegetation growth is kept to knee height, traditional forest is virtually non existent and biodiversity is constrained.TB63 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 15, 2020 9:09 amWhat utter bollocks!
