The problem with Rugbypass is that they'd prefer to sell the rights to a big broadcaster, who'll then just add it to their package with 4,000 channels of shite I will never watch !
If I want to just want the Rugby, I can't get it because of Geographic restrictions.
Rugby isn't big enough for the rights owner to just sell it direct to consumers & make a profit; they want to resell it, & then maybe pick up a couple of hundred subs in Hungary, or Columbia, where no one wants to re-broadcast.
They've convinced themselves this is the only way, but all they're doing is making it easier for fans to decide to pirate & them earn nothing, rather than giving them an option to pay market price.

Watching the highlights of France vs Australia.
Spidercam for place kicks is even worse than for scrums, you have absolutely no idea where the posts are.
So it will now be the default, no doubt.
Fuck modern coverage!

I agree. French broadcasters + ITV is going to make this RWC painful viewing.Hal Jordan wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 5:55 pm Watching the highlights of France vs Australia.

TF1 are terrible they don't do sport most of the time and they have the World cup rights.

Genuinely brilliant video that, and shows that qualifying for your first RWC isn't a stand-alone freak event.

Haven’t watched the video, so apologies if this is covered in it, but are Chile the side with virtually all the players coming from one club? (Edit: just occurred to me that maybe it’s like a district affiliation, rather than a club side?)Sinkers wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 11:25 amtabascoboy wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 11:10 am4 sets apparently

Yes, Selknam - a club specifically created for the Chilean high-performance pathway.Simian wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 2:01 pmHaven’t watched the video, so apologies if this is covered in it, but are Chile the side with virtually all the players coming from one club? France will murder us. And Italy will be keen to take the scalp when we are down. Battle for second.
I'm more than confident that Wales get out of their group.
Pretty pleased after the warm up trial matches. Pity Gats just used them as a means to an end would have liked to see a near strength team in at least one of the friendly games
That said news from the Wales camp is really positive and the injuries are resolving and some fringe players are stepping up to the mark.
Will be interesting to see how Anscombe is going to be used especially when he switches to full back.
Pretty confident that we will have a shot at another semi final.
Glad that many are writing Wales off.

How does that work? Once the squads are selected, you can only change if you lose someone by injury? Indeed it's not like he hasn't been fired from Toulouse at the time of his agression.
