Books, TV, films, whatever.

Noticed that Cas Anvar, who plays Alex Kamal in the Expanse, is being investigated for multiple sexual misconduct allegations. Seems there are screengrabs of inappropriate messages to multiple women, some of whom were underage.

Recast coming, if it's slightly true. Shame, I thought he did a good job with the character. More important things, though, if it's true.

Watching Dark at the moment. Having to concentrate quite hard occasionally.

Would they recast, or just write him out and replace?

Excited for that one :D. I've been holding off rewatching the 1st series for a second time.

Raggs, he's a central character and there are like 5 more books that they want to get to! Absolutely no way to write him out. He's literally part of the 5 characters which make up the "family" at the heart of all the story arcs.

Boys season 2 is something I've been looking forward to for ages. Sweet.

I knew there were books, didn't realise there were that many still to go. Makes me tempted to just read them. In which case, yes, recast if needed.

Whilst not strictly Sci-Fi, Lucifer series 6 in the works too, just watch it to see lots of Maze, she is stunningly gorgeous

Give them a read, Raggs. Definitely recommended. There's lots of little stuff that gets lost in visual media, like descriptions of shipboard living in micro gravity or under thrust, etc.

ASMO, is that the chick played by yer-one in BSG?

Dark is brilliant. Are you watching dubbed or with subtitles? I’ve been watching it in the original German with the wife - I speak German (though not well enough to get all the dialogue), she doesn’t, but I reckon she has enjoyed it as much as I have.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

The books are good. Yes, Alex is an essential character, so they would have to recast. Would be a shame but I’d get over it, I expect.

1st official Dune trailer out. Can’t be arsed to link. Do a search on youtube lazy feks. Looks good. As one comment put it,’looks like someone actually read the book.’

Has to be watched with German audio. It's quite a poetic language oddly enough.

Don't leave too much of a gap between the seasons. We really enjoyed the first 2 seasons, but have got stuck on season 3 trying to remember all the threads from the first 2 seasons and how they relate to the third.

Might have to binge the whole lot from the beginning.

I'm going to try out the first book in 'The Expanse' series, there was a lot I liked about that show but the big negative was that bloody UN woman whose actress had one of the most monotonous voices I've ever heard and whose scenes seemed to bring the pace of the show to a crashing halt. They seemed to write her saying 'fuck/ing' much more in the later scenes - just as well as it was the only way you could tell she was angry/irritated. I hope the character is better in the books.

I'd hoped the character was being written out with her arc ending in S4 but no, such luck.

I imagine it might be getting a bit dated now, but I enjoyed the hell out of this when I read it way back when.

Definitely getting a strong 80s vibe from it.

But having the tooled up USA and USSR helps even the odds a little.

I think that no matter how far fetched that has to be the slightest possibility you can latch on to.

Asking the real question here...and the answer is no. Every few months I go and do a Google search, but fuck all comes back. I hope that means they are putting in the requisite effort (and money) to make it right.

She's not even in book 1. They just introduced her earlier in the show to spread out the introduction of characters and use her as a bit of an exposition vehicle.

Also, Avasarala's awesome, and Shohreh Aghdashloo is brilliant as her! She's also a fairly fundamental character to the entire saga, even if not always on screen. Get used to her!

Yep I think she's brilliant - a raw, rough edges character acted superbly.

Both character and actress may be highly regarded, but I took a near instant dislike I'm afraid. Then again I can't say I'm overwhelmed by any of the characters and a lot of the acting seems adequate at best. Story is good though (as is the directing, overall look and CG), which I why I kept watching it. Hoping for better form the books.

I watched the first season before getting into the books. GOt my dad onto it and he started reading before seeing the series. He's not as taken with the show as I am. Think it's because he imagined the characters slightly differently, whereas I already had a very clear image of them from seeing the show first.
Alex Kamal should probably be chubbier. Belters taller and skinnier (although that's very difficult to do, TBF). Holden and Naomi are probably a bit too pretty, but that's just TV, which doesn't bother me.

They got Amos spot on, though, and absolutely Wes Chatham absolutely nails him, IMO, especially as the series develop and his more subtle traits come through. He's more than just a psycho meathead, as he appears at first.

Only read a few chapters so far, that's one thing about the Belters but you're right it's just not possible to populate a cast with 2m + tall stringbeans! At least we can imagine the way they speak rather than that awful cod Jamaican thing they try on screen. Amos had some good development in the show, slow but that's the way it should be and it's believable that he shows that he can do subtle and actually make friends. I only started watching the show a few months ago but I'm surprised how much of the early story I've already forgotten...even that Holden etc started with the 'Canterbury'.
