Brand is an interesting fellow.
Remember 30 plus years ago when you were left wing and hated the establishment and now the establishment is left wing? Brand was the same as you but he realised, being the clever chap he is, that there was money to be made from pretending your anti-establishment.
In my opinion whilst he was dropped many a "truth bomb" to coin a phrase, on his YT channel I don't think he personally cared about any of them, he didn't actually care that the Bill Gates foundation made a quarter of a billion dollars (tax free) buying BioNTech (Pfizers partner) a few months before the pandemic and then selling at peak value, he didn't care but he knew that there was a market for people who potentially did care so he grifted them. Almost every single one of his videos was a grift but Brand wasn't clever enough to realise when he grifted too close to the wind.

Thing is that he could still have shagged loads without having to resort to rape.

I think David in Gwent just posts as much conspiracy theorist baloney as possible to see when we give up actually talking about something as a social experiment.
Or their brain is pure strawberry milkshake.
One of the two.
The fuck are you bringing some Bill Gates conspiracy theory into this for, you massive weirdo?David in Gwent wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 7:57 pmThat's all very jolly, until it happens to someone you know or care about. When the justice system is such an overwhelming failure, it's bizarre that people abdicate all moral judgment to the courts.
Jimmy Savile never faced justice when he was alive. It took decades and public pressure for Epstein to begin to account for his crimes. Harvey Weinstein was only brought down due to the public pressure of overwhelming accusations, rather than any police work prior to that point.
Powerful men, protected by those around them, with access to huge legal resources, are extremely difficult to bring to justice.
Epstein was found guilty of procuring a child as a prostitute in 2008 and only served 13 months or so, the fact that he entertained and befriended many popular figures such as Bill Gates after that conviction is beyond shocking. In my opinion people have to factor in the chance that RB is being "silenced" as a valid standpoint.
As for Gates and Epstein, Gates gave an "apology" about fraternising with Epstein and the MSN forgave him, as did we, and we got on with things.
He was the opposite of silenced.
I know one man who was falsely accused, and I can safely say he's very likely to be agreeing with me on this. I know many, many women who've been raped or sexually assaulted with no hope of justice. They matter to me as well.

Wonder how the former editors at Prospect feel?
And the current editor who was pretty matey with Brand back then.

So long as I understand your viewpoint; it doesn't matter how we view someone on a moral compass if someone is legally guilty or innocent they can have the full force of the media thrown at them because the legal system is a joke?
I don't think there's a hope in hell of you understanding my viewpoint, because there's absolutely no way you're interested in doing so, and as a notorious conspiracy theorist whose brain was turned into mush over a decade ago by the dregs of the lunatic fringe internet there is zero chance you can dig yourself out.David in Gwent wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 9:29 pmI was giving an example of your "Powerful men" I was agreeing with you, Gates acted atrociously with regards to Epstein and his visits to his Island and got away with it.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 9:05 pmThe fuck are you bringing some Bill Gates conspiracy theory into this for, you massive weirdo?David in Gwent wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 7:57 pm

I have no idea what I'm doing here other than when something breaks in the News I find the reactions here fascinating. I mean, really fascinating but again I don't care enough to personally attack anyone for what they believe.

I think Trump is very lucky he ended his relationship with Epstein before Epstein's conviction.

They binned him on YouTube ?!!!
I get it’s a private company, though I thought they’d only base it on what he posts there, rather than this, or at least until fair trial.
Edit: oh they’ve not banned him, they’ve switched off ads, demonetised him:
It looks like he was quite active going by this
6.6 million subscribers and the last vid was on YouTube

Difference there is we formed that judgement on him and Olding AFTER we'd seen the evidence.Simian wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 7:20 pmAgreed. However, I think it’s entirely reasonable to conclude that they might be a really shitty person you wouldn’t want around you or anyone you cared about. So, someone like paddy Jackson is not a convicted sex offender. He’s demonstrably (ie evidenced in court) a risk fucking cunt.David in Gwent wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 7:16 pmRIght, I don't think it's reasonable to portray someone as a rapist without having convicted them first, in a court of law, but that's just me.
It's depressing, and amusing, seeing the number of people on social media defending him with almost exactly the same word salad "big pharma", "establishment", "CIA" etc. Make of that what you will.
I also obviously get this needs to go through due process, but also depressing seeing the number of prominent women happy to defend him and attack the women making the claims.

All the money you made will never buy back your soul
Yeah without any acknowledgement that there were comments about him in the public domain in the late 2010s. For example Katherine Ryan apparently called him out Roast Battle (edited out).Slick wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 8:45 am It's depressing, and amusing, seeing the number of people on social media defending him with almost exactly the same word salad "big pharma", "establishment", "CIA" etc. Make of that what you will.

He is allegedly quite litigious so wouldn't be surprised if there is something in place to prevent Ryan speaking out now.
Aye he does use it.
As an aside people are using his subscriber count like it indicates his popularity.
He has a lot of subscriber's but often his video have <200k views except when Obama or Trump is mentioned. His subscriber count while impressive is a but of a red herring. All that means is people subscribed a while ago and couldn't be arsed unsubscribing.
Squidge Rugby gets not dissimilar numbers of views compared to Brands regular videos.

Incredible - as an almost perfect example of why Brand wasn't outed before this point.
Katherine Ryan lets folk know that it is terrifying to try and speak out against this behaviour because female comedians fear being listed as 'trouble makers' and being turned down for work because their attitudes aren't conducive to the community that they move in and having active groups move against them with real malice.
And the comments on the story are littered with people mocking her, saying she shouldn't be classed as a comedian, making jokes about her appearance, weight and the fact that she is just annoyed that brand didn't try it on with her.
Jesus wept - the human race really is scummy.

And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?
That's the thing with her post. I've no issues with her posting her own story, her own friendship and her own struggles to believe the allegations because of that. It's jumping from there to "All these women are lying bitches" which is essentially what she's done, which is very far beyond the pale.
No, of course not. And that’s not the key take away was from what was said. She said there was no open secret about him, which is what others had been trotting out.PornDog wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 2:43 pmThat's the thing with her post. Hence why she was distrusting
I fully accept she didn't know about it, but that doesn't also mean that the likes of Ryan and Pascoe are somehow lying. I'm not sure the phrase "open secret" is very helpful, but clearly many people were genuinely concerned about his behaviour. That doesn't mean that they knew of any actual crimes, just that they were disturbed by his actions.Ymx wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 2:47 pmNo, of course not. Open Secret kind of implies that everyone knew of actual crimes and didn't report them because of 'reasons' - I dont' think that's what we're actually talking about when poeple use that term. Its more that a number of people (not everyone) had serious concerns, but lack of actual criminal evidence, and money being made, resulted in nothing being done (apart from allegedly Brand's lawyers earning their crust).
