A Tory Minister jumping on a bandwagon is the norm.
People who voted for these morons are their natural fodder.
I don’t think the Tory voting demographic is huge on virtue signalling. Bad judgment call.

Just watched the documentary. Clearly some very serious allegations there and he comes across as a nasty, self absorbed piece of shit. On the other hand I thought a lot of the stuff around the Endemol/Big Brother years was very weak. Very much supposition from a number of female employees who appeared to be trying to distance themselves from facilitating his lifestyle, however no first hand allegations. I would imagine that will change now that the programme has been aired.
I also found the suggestion that he had been forced to sign a no shagging clause a bit bizarre and wasn't surprised the TV company had denied it.

And firing a Grade 8 teacher for reading a quote from Anne Frank's Diary that mentions genitalia in passing. How many Grade 8 kids don't already know about genitalia, FFS?

The stuff on the BBC this morning about him following a woman in LA and locking himself in a toilet cubicle with her and getting his dick out before joking about it minutes later on radio is pretty horrible listening.

The statement from his fellow presenter, Matt Morgan, is amusing though. He obviously enjoys the whole thing and says "he showed his willy to a lady" on air and giggles about the whole thing, which makes the new statement "I was not aware until now of the nature of this encounter" pretty hollow, at best.

It's all in plain sight really isn't it. They are on air laughing about it immediately after. What a low life.

That the stuff I remember. Lots of stuff like that while listening. I am not a shrinking violet but some of it had the ehhhhhh element. Morgan is complicated in that I remember some of the shtick would be him collecting Brand as he rolled out of bed with another bird. The implication being he didn't go partying with him.
The BBC were chasing a younger audience for Radio 2 at the time and encouraged Brand to be an edgy twat. Just another in a long line of enablers for the creep.

Half the pricks stand up show was about how badly he treated women during sex. I think this is going to get even uglier for him.

Katherine Ryan lets folk know that it is terrifying to try and speak out against this behaviour because female comedians fear being listed as 'trouble makers' and being turned down for work because their attitudes aren't conducive to the community that they move in and having active groups move against them with real malice.

And the comments on the story are littered with people mocking her, saying she shouldn't be classed as a comedian, making jokes about her appearance, weight and the fact that she is just annoyed that brand didn't try it on with her.

Jesus wept - the human race really is scummy.
This lady appears to contradict the narrative about it being such an environment in comedy, particularly surrounding Brand.

Everyone has an opinion

What bothers me about his response is he has been very open in his public persona, his books, and his predilection to discussing himself about his philandering and subsequent treatment for sexual addiction. If the bloke had potentially thousands of sexual encounters, then surely there are at least a few situations that may have been questionable and given the shift in public opinion this situation is not surprising.

But not only has he been very open about his deviancy, he has been very open about his membership in 12 step fellowships going so far as to publish a book on the principles. Principles his current behaviour may not be aligned with.

While I don’t expect him to put his hand up and say, yes of cause I’m a rapist. He could have responded more thoughtfully than his predictably retarded narrative and denial.

Guessing he won't actually touch on any specific allegation and just bang on about a MSM conspiracy etc.

Some of the allegations are clearly pretty problematic for him though. The LA alleged rape with the text exchange after and the new allegation about him propositioning and shoving his cock in a woman's face in a bathroom and bragging on air for a start. Then there's the one with the 16 year old. Even if you'd likely never prove the sexual assault within that relationship, a powerful bloke in his thirties having a sexual relationship with a 16yo schoolgirl is deeply creepy. Even if it is legal, it's the sort of thing that will do some reputational damage and I'm sure if that relationship didn't happen, he'd have denied it.

I really think we need to address age of consent laws. Adults who have relationships with teenagers below the age of majority being seen as creepy just doesn't cut it.

I'd alter it so that anyone over 18 can't sleep with anyone under 18. Provision made for when someone in a pre-existing relationship turns 18.

I recalled something about France having something to do with relative age, but in doing so found they didn’t even used to have one before. Wtaf. And it’s only 15 now.

Whilst in Italy, Germany and Portugal it’s only14 !!

This article about the French?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-56413881

I know they're famed for their liberal approach to sex, but yeah that was a wild read.
But a so-called "Romeo and Juliet" clause will mean it is still possible for teenagers to consent to sex with each other, allowing for sex between a teen and a young adult up to five years older.

Some MPs criticised the gap as too large. It was defended by the justice minister who said he did not want "to put a youngster aged 18 on trial because he had consensual sex with a girl aged fourteen-and-a-half."
That's crazy. 18 and 14 is much too big of a gap.

14/15 is about the age most of my friends started having sex, so the Euros are probably more realistic in their lower age limit than we are, but if setting it that low then there need to be a lot of protections against exploitation even by older teenagers, let alone adults. Several of my female friends lost their virginities to significantly older boys, they were 14 while the boys were 17, and have since voiced regret, feeling like they were coerced. At those ages a couple of years encompasses a lot of developmental difference.

Could not agree more with this. Have a rule where if you're within a school year or something it's fine but anyone over 19 having sex with a 16 year old should go straight to jail for being a danger.

In Japan the age of consent has just been raised from an absurd 13 to 16.

It's presumably an allusion to the Murdoch press' original - and rapidly disavowed - claim that the person Edwards was getting explicity content from was 17.

To which ymx was adamant he should be fired as he's a "role model". Strangely, not concerns he has around Brand a self styled spiritual leader and political analyst.

It would be odd, if it wasn't blatant trolling.

God no, we wouldn’t want Brand the deviant to be presenting the news on the BBC either.

But yes, I was mocking all of us actually.

I thought he was doing the whole; "I was a sinner, but now I've found jebus !!!!, Hallelujah !!!!!", bit in an attempt to not go to gaol ?

It does rather fall down if you mock the credulous fools you claim to be part of ?
