Prep yourself as soon as the WC is over. Was listening to Dr Ross Tucker’s podcast a couple of weeks ago and he hinted at a WR announcement he wasn’t allowed to reveal. His co-host didn’t dig but I bet it’s a global tackle height drop (sternum would be my guess, if it happens).

I don’t see how this will solve anything. People aren’t hitting high because the rules permit it, they’re hitting high because it’s inherently advantageous in this sport. In fact, I can’t see how this won’t mean MORE cards and endlessly bickering about how much sanction every single contact should warrant.

That’s the point, coaches have decided it’s worth the risk to keep hitting that high. Lower the permitted height and it won’t be near the head even if it’s slightly illegal

I’m just skeptical it will change behavior, and would just mean that every other tackle will now be sanctionable.

But I suppose for me the problem in question is the litigation that surrounds every bit of contact, rather than the contact itself. Debating the legality of a tackle or the merits of a card is like half of any discussion of a game now. It sucks.
