Nah, we have enough of them
Hopefully we see him pop up on the wing at least once in this one, seeing as there's another scrumhalf in the XV.

Some interesting selections. Duanne at 7, Wiese in 8, Kwagga again on the bench.
Players rested that should be because they're crucial:
Bongi - Marx gone, everything is on him now.
Pieter-Steph du Toit - Players could replace him in the backrow, but none brings everything he does and at the same level. Mostert closest, and even he is only on the bench for this one.
Faf - Our best scrumhalf, kicking from hand/sweeping on defence/tackling/passing, also a long range kicking option now.
De Allende - Our best 12. Not well liked it seems, but a wall on defence who can carry directly into contact and make ground like backrow.
Kolbe - Our best wing.
Willemse - Plays 10/12/15 like Frans did, without him starting or on the bench the 6/2 split becomes much harder to do.
Players that should've been rested.
Etzebeth - Our best lock, worth two or three players. Sharks were a different team with him in the XV. Not sure about playing him in this one, definitely get him off as soon as the match is won.
Kolisi - Could make the case he must start because he's captain. But he's also our most crucial player, get off as soon as the match is won.
Kriel - On the bench. Probably the most underrated Bok I can think of. Quick, strong on defence, can do stuff in attack. Nice having a 64 test capped player as a solid reliable replacement for Am, without him things get worse.
Players getting their last chance:
Pollard - Needs to have a strong game here.
Moodie - Obvious huge talent, playing at 13 which always looked like his best position. Could be a Bok great. Doesn't mean he should feature after this test though. Kriel isn't as great a talent but is playing to his maximum potential and knows what he's doing, as the Wallabies have shown the older player who has reached their maximum potential is better than the younger (perhaps) more talented player who isn't anywhere near reaching their potential. This is his last chance to claim a spot at 13 or on the wing, not sure what he would need to do to achieve that.
Williams - Obvious now that RasNaber want the bench scrumhalf to cover wing. He was poor on the wing against Romania, didn't manage basic wing skills. Reinach better at scrumhalf and on the wing for me.
Mapimpi - There's still a chance RasNaber goes with Mapimpi on the left wing and Kolbe on the right. The old combination.
Le Roux - Probably needs a good game, in the running if Pollard is.

Always happy to help.
But seriously, Moodie looks like a generational talent - maybe as good as Gerber one day.
You know what you're getting with Kriel, and yes he's in good form. But let's be honest, he's lucky to still be taking part.
Unleash the future, I reckon.
It's interesting to see Eben and Kolisi starting.
I think they're there to get more match fitness. They were subbed relatively early in the Ireland game and we missed them both.
Kolisi is going to have to go the distance come the QFs and beyond.

Agree with all of that Ox. I'm not too bothered about Moodie at 13, he is still very young and will get his chance in the future. I do wonder how much game time he will get at 13 once Am is back next year, don't think Kriel will be hanging up his boots either. But they must persist with Moodie at 13, Jake should do the same at the Bulls. But Jake being Jake, he'll keep Moodie on the wing._Os_ wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 6:45 pm Players rested that should be because they're crucial:

The 90-degree runup is because he hooks, not the other way around. His kicking coach advised him to adjust his runup to a more acute angle to compensate for his poor form.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 1:01 pmPlesier my mater!
To get back to Libboks kicking. He cost the Stormers the URC with his wayward kicking.
I thought Rudi Joubert show up his flaws. Its his 90 degree run in to kick, that cause him to hook it. So I expect that it will catch up on him. Must say his kicking out of hand has improved a lot.
Well Pollard has been a very good kicker since his u13 days. I remember in his grade 11 year, Booishaai was the big favorite to win interschools. Pollie had other ideas and play a big role for Gim to take interschools.

You are correct. Donkey is DDA and Alphaville is Kriel (Big in Japan...)
The latter one I had to ask him myself, its very good.

Sir Ox forced me to use nicknames for all the players. Apparently if I don't, my Freestate bias shows like a dirty onnerok.

Well not to long ago that same midfield destroyed the Springboks in Auckland. They have more then 100 tests between them, so if there is a measurement for AE & Moodie, it will be them.
Its a waste to not use them play but it will cost Rasnaber a WC. Here. First

Faf , Libbok , De Allende , Kriel , Willemse , Kolbe and KLA have lost against a poor ABs and The Irish...
Reinach , Libbok , AE , Moodie , KLA , Mapimpi , Willie , have a record win over the ABs and smashed all else.

He is still a bit 1-dimensional in attack but he is great on defence.
Critical now in Am's absence because they are the only 2 outside centers that have enough experience with the Rasnaber defence system to consistently make the correct reads. Which is why I'm glad Moodie is getting another shot at 13. The kid is smart enough to pick up the system and just needs to more gametime to nail it down and give us some more cover at 13.

On attack they are very frustrating: Kriel never passes, just takes contact and goes to ground.
Moodie grubbers the ball into the 22....this works against Valke and Boland. International 15s are much too good to get caught out of position.
