Premise of thread - good band, crap song.

Probably just because of overfamiliarity (as in I've heard the song one time too many) but I don't like:
The Verve - bittersweet symphony
the Beatles - let it be

Urban hymns is a truly monumental album it is such a shame that Bittersweet symphony has been played on radio 10 times the rest of the album combined.

Good Topic

Losing My Religion - it's got such an annoying hook that sticks in your head, plus it has be overplayed, "somewhat"

In a similar vein Sweet Child o Mine, isn't even the best song on side R of Appetite but mention Guns N Roses to anybody and that's probably the song they'll think of.

But the absolute worst GnR song by a country mile is Silkworms. An absolute piece of shit song that they played at Rock in Rio 2001 and then never played it again, that is until, after 14 years of no new music, what's the first single they release? Fucking silkworms (although the name has changed to Absurd with the R written backwards, because such a shit song deserves a stupid name)

Cold Fact by Rodriquez- one of my top 3 albums.

Gommorah, probably the worst song I’ve ever heard

I hate bittersweet symphony with the passion of a thousand burning suns. Despise it with every fibre of my being.

I love Appetite for Destruction as an album with the exception of … paradise city. Have never liked it and largely skip it when playing that album.

It’s the bloody kids singing the chorus.

That did make me check I hadn't got the band and song the wrong way around, but it's true, I loathe their song Albatross. It'd be more entertaining listening to Welsh fans sing their rousing hymn, "Wales, Wales, Wales"

Nearly everything by Devin Townsend.

Absolutely love the guy, don't like most of his music.

Still...I paid the equivelent of 30 albums of music..for Devins Ocean Machine Delay and Reverb pedal, so he is still doing well out of me.

R.E.M. was my favourite band untilI heard Slayer's Reign in Blood and went all-in on metal. But both Everybody Hurts and Shiny Happy People are godawful songs that made me go cold on R.E.M. real quick. So those two qualify for this thread.

Even REM hate Shiny Happy People.

Everybody Hurts is a lovely song.

Stronger by the Sugababes, I don't think it emphasised their resilience and inner beauty enough.

Agree the song in general is lame especially the studio version but live at the ritz 88 its pretty good and the end of the song is an amazing wall of sound.
