You are going to kill yourself. Its great we are the underdog for this match.
I'll be alright.
Oh, I agree. France are firm favourites at home this weekend.

Yup, happy with Ben. In fact, of all the refs I would have preferred, it was him. Let's face it, this weekend's games are not going to be easy for the guys in the middle, good luck to them.

Nah not really. If we're not good enough then that's it. I am hopeful that we are and will be, but it won't be the end of the world if we go home against the French at home. That being said, my nerves are shooting through the roof. Also, fuck this stupid Sunday night game shit ffs.
Dude...after all the hype we have been allowing ourselves to be built up to.....it will be devastatingLoveOfTheGame wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 10:24 amNah not really. In SA's favour, or is that the complaint?

I agree. No way NZ has 4 refs of quality to be at this RWC at the same time.

You tell me, according to Bin last time out, this was 3 points to Ireland.

Thats the first thing I learn in Paarl Interschools. Its different to others because you work together, your close friends are opposition, some are married (wife PG, husband HJS).LoveOfTheGame wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 12:19 pmInsane Homer reporting for duty.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 12:13 pmI never blame the ref after a loss. Never blame the ref, its fuel for them, it give them more enjoyment and you are just more depressive. Give credit to the better team, take it on the chin and move on.
Pretty stupid choice this week. The tops are similar and both wear white shorts.
Also happy with the ref.LoveOfTheGame wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 10:22 amYup, happy with Ben. In fact, of all the refs I would have preferred, it was him. Let's face it, this weekend's games are not going to be easy for the guys in the middle, good luck to them.

O'Keeffe is a bit of a Homer, but he's not at full Insane Homer levels, although he did make me go a bit insane at the end of the Ireland match. 9 tests reffing the Boks, 6 Bok wins, 2 Bok losses, 1 draw. Of those tests 3 have been outside SA, a loss in Dublin (2017), win in Sydney (2022), loss in Paris against Ireland.
The all Pom ref team for the Ireland v All Blacks quarter would've been better for us. Boks tend to do better under a ref who is consistent and eagle eyed, not someone which "lets the game flow" (or in other words "ignores penalties, but also randomly doesn't"), which is how Australasian refs usually ref. The big issue will be if the scrum/ruck/maul aren't reffed, all areas which are subject to ref interpretation and where the Boks generate a lot of momentum. Gardner (Aussie, who traditionally produce the worst refs) didn't ref the scrum against Scotland and that made things much harder for the Boks.
Not the worst for us, he's better than Gardner or Pearce (the worst ref we've had at the RWC, he "let the game flow" against Tonga) both of which have no role in the quarters. Barnes is better but it could've been a lot worse.
Now we need to match intensity to accuracy and it's in the pocket._Os_ wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 5:11 pmO'Keeffe is a bit of a Homer, but he's not at full Insane Homer levels, although he did make me go a bit insane at the end of the Ireland match. 9 tests reffing the Boks, 6 Bok wins, 2 Bok losses, 1 draw. The sequence of the pics is backwards. The one on the right is first, then left second.
