Ironically this is exactly the sort of stuff I was suggesting we needed to avoid - this hyping up of minor/incidental things for party political point scoring during a humanitarian crisis. She is not a member of the Scottish Gov. She tweeted about the 'context' within which the terrorist attack took place and has subsequently apologised for the tweet and clarified what she meant by it - see https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland- ... s-67087193. She is a bit of a twat and got it very badly wrong but in no way represents the views of the Scottish Gov, nor even those of the Green Party, as was initially claimed by Slick - for which he has now apologised. No one is defending her. Social media is awash with numerous and equally stupid tweets, falsehoods, made up videos, etc from all sorts of actors who are only interested in trying to promote their own world views and politics.Slick wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2023 11:29 amSorry, that was worded very badly indeed by me. https://www.gov.scot/publications/israe ... overnment/I am writing concerning the horrific terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas over the weekend, and the escalating conflict in Israel and Gaza.
The Scottish Government and I unequivocally condemn the abhorrent terrorist actions of Hamas. Israel – like any other country – has a right to protect itself and its citizens from terror.
I was referring to people like Maggie Chapman, Green MSP, so part of the government, writing things about Israel had it coming to them and the Scottish Parliament refusing to fly a flag when they have done it for just about every other atrocity around the world. It was in response to Dpedins usual schtick.
The UK Gov just need to ensure everyone calms down, the leadership and messaging needs to be clear and marginalises anyone who holds extreme views or who wants to take unacceptable action in the UK. As difficult as it might be for the likes of Braverman et al, they need to ensure every ethnic minority is protected and supported equally in the UK and that the UK will not tolerate any of the extreme views or actions from the current crisis spilling over into the UK. We need calm and collective leadership from them and other political leaders. Instead of made up rows coming from politicians about the FA projecting the colours of Israel on Wembley, of the BBC calling Hamas terrorists or not or confected anger about a tweet from a MSP that no-one has heard of before it would be nice to see some national discussion and actions around humanitarian aid to the region and taking serious action to support the men, women and children who are being injured and dying in their thousands.
The US and UK plus others have made it clear that no other country/group in the ME should think about entering the fray and have made it clear that no other country should 'take advantage' of the situation to strike against Israel - this is absolutely right to avoid a serious escalation. The show of military strength from both plus others is a clear demonstration of how serious they take the risks.
As I said earlier the barbaric terrorism by Hamas and the atrocities they inflicted are just inhuman and dreadful and they must be hunted down and prosecuted. These actions have rightfully been condemned and we all agree Israel should hunt down the perpetrators of these actions. However the enforced movement of over a million Gaza citizens in 24 hours which is just not possible and who have nowhere to go and to inflict a medieval siege of Gaza by turning off power, water and food to a captive population is equally dreadful and the deaths of many, many civilians is not going to achieve anything other than more hatred and conflict for years to come. Neither of these views are mutually exclusive.

It's literally a photo of what could be PR. There's no other evidence to back up their claim, it's just their say so. I can sense the frustration in a lot of you that the IDF did not use PG. It's OK, stay strong, there's still a chance they could use it. Those of you that know (none of you) the IDF promised not to use it again but reserved the right for "exceptional situations"
Seriously, a poster posted a link of a war crime, the link has NO evidence just a photo, and all you can do is defend the publication.
It's starting to smell of a bit of AS in here, even if it's the unconscious bias kind of AS.

You are right - we are in early stages of covid season/wave again with October seeing a rise in hospital admissions due to covid. Fortunately the warm weather has meant that spread has been limited. Since you ask I have already had my covid and flu boosters a few weeks ago. Funnily enough just signed up again with the ONS and UKHSA as a volunteer for their Winter Covid Infection Study. As before I will provide LFTs, blood samples and questionnaires regularly to help with monitoring of covid over the winter. Hamas Statement:
13 Oct. 2023
Press release
We adamantly reject to be expelled from our homes once again.
We will resist Israel’s attempt to ethnically cleanse Gaza.
Our unwavering determination is to resist Israel’s pursuit of ethnic cleansing in Gaza, firmly resolved to prevent a second Nakba from unfolding.
The current developments in Gaza represent an extraordinarily audacious and brutal endeavor to forcibly remove the Palestinian indigenous people from their land.
Israel has publicly declared its plan to commit genocide against Palestinians.
The Zionist entity, supported by Western governments, has conducted a war of intense bombardment, releasing more than 6,000 bombs upon Gaza within the past week.
Nearly 500 children have been tragically killed as a result of the intense bombardment, carried out by the Zionist entity.
They have targeted mosques, a church, educational institutions, residences, and medical facilities with bombings, yet it is our people who are erroneously branded as terrorists.
Today, we have seen the mobilization of millions in the Arab and Muslim world, extending their support to the courageous Palestinians in Gaza.
We express our heartfelt gratitude for their solidarity and implore them to continue, urging them to march to the borders and play their part in this historic juncture that promises the restoration of our freedom and the dignity of all Arabs and Muslims.
To our allies living in western countries, the free noble people of those societies.
You too have a role to play, to pressure your governments to abandon their support to Netanyahu and his fascist government.
To correct the lies of the media, lift this barbaric siege on our people.
Yes what the Zionists are doing is inhumane, it is unprecedented, it is barbaric and contravenes all the laws and treaties that the so-called free and democratic countries claim they believe in.
But our resolve is unbreakable. We will not surrender our legitimate fight for freedom and self-determination. We will either live standing tall or we will die fighting.

The part I made about him was pointing out how he was making it all about himself.
I don't have the history that others have with him from PR, but seemingly this is nothing new. In the three years I've been on this forum I think people are generally treated how they treat others and the forum itself.
