Agree but in the end you have to beat the best sides to win the comp. and Ire stumbled here.
Feel free to take screenshots and send my best.Biffer wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 8:53 pmMight pop over for a lookTorquemada 1420 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 8:53 pmI'd pay good money to see the meltdown. Everyone will be being blamed from Barnes to Burns.

Well done New Zealand. Cracking performance. Sam Cane's best display for five years. Too much pace and power for Ireland, who at times looked incredibly ponderous with Sexton at walking pace for much of the second half. Great tries by NZ, too.
The best players on the pitch were all kiwis. Admittedly some of them were wearing green, but still. Excellent display.
The best Irish side there ever was and probably ever will be goes out in the quarter finals. What a story. Incredible game to watch.

Fitting that Sexton's final act as an international is to act like a petulant child. Shame.
Left hand down a bit

I don't think there would be any complaints if this was a semi final with SA and France in the other.
I don't want to derail the ABs win here, it was thoroughly deserved in a close and hard fought match which would have been worthy of a final

The only people who don't think this was a sh*t draw are Brain Dead Billy and his cronies.Tichtheid wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 8:57 pmTorquemada 1420 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 8:54 pmAgree but in the end you have to beat the best sides to win the comp. and Ire stumbled here.

And maybe Borthwick.
Yes, he really is a cunt. No question. There is a gulf in class on and off the pitch between him and guys like Carter or Wilkinson.S/Lt_Phillips wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 8:57 pm Fitting that Sexton's final act as an international is to act like a petulant child. Shame.
Next generation of Irish tens look exciting. Will be fun to see where they go from here.

Banter aside though, a great intense game between two very good sides. New Zealand with the higher highs, but Ireland clung on to them and never went away. Obviously the Irish stumbling at the quarters again is pretty fucking funny, but that game was light years ahead of and shat all over at least two of the ties we'll see this weekend and farcical that we got it so early in the tourny.
Unfortunately sticking with Sexton the whole game probably cost them the game! He should have been subbed after 50-60mins and especially with Murray coming on - the pair of them slowed the game way down for the Irish and made them easy to defend against. They really needed more pace at half back to pose a threat and ended up very predictable for ABs to defend against. Better team won.Torquemada 1420 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 8:55 pmYeah. Age and that long sit out may have caught up with him.JM2K6 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 8:53 pm Barnes finally gives a penalty.

I know I've seen you wear a French shirt IRL, but are you actually French or was it the only clean shirt you had available?

Agreed. Said as soon as Murray came on, it would be Youngs-esque pace. He was crawling to breakdowns not long after coming on.dpedin wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 9:02 pmUnfortunately sticking with Sexton the whole game probably cost them the game! If you can stop Ire getting quick ball at the breakdown, they become half the threat. NZ did that incredibly well and then Murray and Sexton did the rest in that last 20.
It’s up there with Portugal v Fiji and Portugal v Georgia for sure

I said in the second half that Sexton hadn't done any wrap arounds, his energy levels were way below what they were last week.

Holy crap what a cliffhanger ending.
20 minutes with only 14 men on the field and still managing to beat the #1 ranked team in the world. That just shows pure class.
Ireland's game plan played right into the Kiwi's hands. Don't try to match the AB's physicality, rather try to outplay and outrun them.
So it's 2 SH teams in the semis with 2 matches to go. Will Fiji cause a small upset and beat England to make it 4 out of 4?

I had loads of vintage England shirts for sale, I sold them ALL after the first WC England win, made me laugh.
