Best game of the RWC so far, imho. Even better than Ireland's fantastic win over SA.

Common denominator - Ireland.
It’s up there with Portugal v Fiji and Portugal v Georgia for sure
Portugal were great value. I hope Fiji show their enterprise against England tomorrow.

I sold off most of my collection several years ago!

Just kept a couple of the really rare ones.

Something that would be quite cool to have, and is very expensive when you see them online, is one of the original Adidas rugby balls that France used in the 5N, the ones with the black tips on the ends.

Not as sought after as you may think but I'd still love to have one.

I was fascinated by the physicality of New Zealanders. None looked like they were gym monkeys, compared to the Irish. They all looked lithe. Slender... quick...even their forwards (back row) didn't look massive. Yet they were stopping men who looked like they could blow them over.

Must be psychologically insulting to be massive, thinking you are going to monster your skinny looking opposite number..and have him constantly stop you on the gain line.

They are Bugatti Veryon's dressed up like mini metros.

Hopefully it's now going to be acknowledged that Porter continually scrummages illegally and he'll continue to be called for it.

They got a penalty try from one, and I think they were chasing the game at other times, but they did kick for the posts too. One was missed.

Sexton looking like a miserable morrisey tribute act. Great player, phenomenal player for Ireland but a complete prick at times which stains his legacy for me.

Aside from his usual prickishness during the game, he was giving Reiko Ioane an extended spray after the final whistle.

Aye, back in the day when Bill Farmer was the bar manager (1981???).

Yeah, not impressed by Sexton’s farewell conduct.

Great, great match though. Will probably be the best contest of the WC.

I begin to think that Ireland might skid - and maybe crash - now. The team’s strength was confidence and cohesion. There’s actually not a lot of standout by position. But yet another 1/4 final exit is a massive dent to self-belief.

Mind, poorer performances from this Ireland team will still be head and shoulders above anything England and Wales can offer.

All in all, well done NZ. The better team.

So who's done with international rugby for Ireland now? O'Mahony, Sexton, Murray, Earls, Aki, Kilcoyne? Lowe, Henshaw, McCloskey, Gibson-Park, Henderson, Bealham, Furlong, Beirne all the wrong side of thirty as well.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

Yes I thought the same. Almost certain that was forward.

BB chip and regather though, did wonderfully well to hold onto the ball getting nailed by Lowe.

Fantastic game of rugby that.

I lived around the corner in Harrisons Gardens when I was a student! First time I went in the Diggers in 1981 I asked for a pint of heavy and a half of lager for the girlfriend, the barman looked me straight in the eye and said 'Fuck off!' Slightly shocked, I then asked for a pint and half of heavy and he said 'thats better son' and then served me. He was a baldy headed, skinny older guy with glasses, dressed like all the barmen in his maroon jacket - I think he died of consumption?

We were in the back room of the Diggers one evening not long after, having had a few beers, playing dominos and my mate accidentally set his long hair on fire with his cigarette lighter. I threw a pint of beer over his head to put the flames out and was promptly chucked out of the pub for getting beer on the doms table. Ah those were the days!

Hadn't been back for donkeys, then worked briefly in Edinburgh in '15 and went in for a pint, Diggers totally changed, empty , beer totally average. Then went to the Riccarton Arms in Currie (old uni haunt, again totally changed... getting old sux)
