So holding an Israeli flag etc after the siege of Gaza and thousands slaughtered in rocket attacks could be considered by many to exactly the same.
What's the death score at the moment.
A life is a life an Israeli life is as previous as a Palestinian life
The losers are the ordinary people caught up in this cluster fuck.
The UK news has personalised the Israeli deaths, many stories of minute detail with lots of interviews, certainly on the BBC anyway. The Palestinian deaths in Gaza are shown very differently, impersonal with groups, mass graves, few interviews because of access and language. This makes the feeling of those deaths different.
Agreed it's somewhat skewed.
But a death is a death all should be dealt with equally.

I have no issue with Israel taking out all the HAMAS leaders if it brings an end to this humanitarian tragedy.

I’m not sure that’s remotely true.

A targeted civilian who is raped, tortured, murdered, and desecrated is a million times away from a civilian who is accidentally killed by an explosion during a war.

I would advise you read the thread on the ME on the BBC. It has stories of a guy from.Gqza not going home, it is predominated by the pro Palestinian protests, it has the figures of deaths in Gqza repeatedly mentioned from Hamas spokespeople that we know to be utter bollox. It notes the UK has told Israel to be disciplined.
Israel on the other hand have dropped 'sinister' letters and are preparing for invasion. You are left with no doubt where the organisation and the journalists sympathies lie. Is it possible they aren't at the funerals as they are Hamas militants? Again to note the figure of 4000 plus is bollox
I should have stated broadcast media.

Not even going to bother with the ‘go and read’ statement.

You keep on trying to paint the IDF and their operation in Gaza to be somehow morally equivalent to Hamas and what they did. It's patently false.

You do realise that the designated areas in the South are still being bombed don't you?

I thought it was fair to point t out the ME thread on the BBC is very favorable towards Palestine. You were saying rhe BBC were humanizing Israelis and dehumanizing Gazans or something of that sort of argument. If you had read it go and try and comprehend it a bit better. Happier?
I raised a simple observation from the broadcast media, which is all that a lot of people use for information.

And stop with the patronising comprehension bullshit. I have not made any arguments either for or against Israel.

I just happened that your point that wasn't for or against Israel made the point the news was favorable towards Israel. I am.not buying it to be honest
There in lies the problem with the regional situation. You are either for one side or the other, no impartial or midway position is allowed.

Every single statement having to be 100% in support of one side or the other will mean that the conflict will never end.

I'm surprised that the masters of context who can see hidden anti-Semitism in soft toys don't get the obvious menace in an "I see you" post on social media for a family who have already been receiving death threats.

Tell you what. Take the text of what was written, post it on your own social media and tag an ex of yours. Let us know how long it is before there's a barring order on you.

Have you been sleeping the past week? Or are you just fine turning a blind eye to Jewish babies being butchered in their homes? Your silence has been very clear about where you stand. We see you.
Um, this is not remotely a threat. It’s saying we see what you stand for.

How the blinding fuck do you conjure up a threat from that?

Something that's becoming very clear as this latest atrocity fest unfolds is the demand from supporters of Israel that you must take a stand... you must either condemn the Palestinians or you are scum who hate Israel.

I dramatise slightly to illustrate.

This is clearly not a binary situation, yet the resounding chorus from all quarters is that you MUST condemn the Palestinians, or more correctly, Hamas. You must take a binary position.

As usual... fuck nuance, let's get angry.

I suggest this is a form of hysteria, perhaps mass hysteria. I contend that to some extent, this is a tactic driven by those who wish to promote the Israeli side, or perhaps more correctly, the Zionist cause.

I watched a reel on Facebook the other day that featured a Palestine ambassador being interviewed and the interviewer asked him if he condemned the actions of Hamas. His lengthy response was enlightening...

he is never asked in to comment when innocent Palestinians are killed by Israelis, including 200 killed in one incident in the West Bank. He is never asked in to comment about the ongoing siege that is the reality of Gaza and has been for 16 (17?) years.

His response went on and was far more articulate than the garbled version I am offering here. I take the point though... the commentary around Israel and Palestine is overwhelmingly slanted one way. Our chief protaganists here on this thread, ER and YMX, two posters with no claimed connection to the ME and no claimed family members in the warzone (unlike other posters here who are more measured in their comments) are strident in their demand that we judge the single incident that started this latest round of conflict or be condemned as sympathisers and lefty scum.

That's kinda dumb, really.

Good pick up. More reframing there... must be a Hamas spokesperson of course, just to mount a rebuttal.

It's a blind, reflex action. No thinking going on... unless it's a deliberate ploy.

The accusation of "silence". She wasn't silent.

So to recap, we have a dog whistle call out against somebody whose family have already received threats and their post is a bare faced lie to begin with because she wasn't silent. In fact she condemned the original slaughter.

A gentle reminder to everyone, whilst we agree this is an emotive and somewhat polarising subject, we will not tolerate personal attacks. Agree to disagree is fine, but making it personal is not, if you dont like someone elses opinion, there is an ignore function, we suggest you use it.

Phew. I was actually concerned you were denying the child slaughter by Hamas.

In which case, you can also see it as a direct reference to her silence now. So I go back to what I said, there was no threat in that statement.

On the lie about her silence, where is her condemnation? Or was this one of those Corbyn type condemnations, where it’s immediately followed with a but.

Please ping it though.
