Yep, bang on.Biffer wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 4:10 am Terrific game but I reckon Detroit lost that as much as, if not more than, SF won it. Need to change it up a bit in the playoffs; I know detroit we're the most likely in the league to go for it on 4th down and had great success from it, but better teams at this stage mean you pint to your kicker and say we're relying on you more, step it up. Kick one of the two chances they turned down and it's a very different game late in the 4th.

If your defence keeps Mahomes to 17 then your offence really needs to step up and win you the game. Ravens flubbed their lines.Gumboot wrote: Sun Jan 28, 2024 11:25 pm Good win by the Chiefs over Baltimore 17-10
KC going to Vegas in a fortnight to defend their Super Bowl crown against...
...the winner of the SF - Detroit game that kicks off in about 5 minutes.
I hardly ever bet, but just put $20 @ 3.75 on the Lions to make their first ever SB game.

Their discipline was shit throughout, & cost them repeatedly, handing the Chiefs 1st downs.Big D wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 10:34 amIf your defence keeps Mahomes to 17 then your offence really needs to step up and win you the game. I laughed my arse off when Flowers had the ball knocked out of his hands short of the line, after he'd been a twat on the play beforehand.

Hmm. Part of me wants San Francisco to win to cap the Brock Purdy story with the perfect ending, but equally I want to see KC win so I can revel in the amount of small dick energy whinging generated by Taylor Swift holding the Lombardi trophy.
Saw this stat:Big D wrote: Fri Jan 19, 2024 12:44 pmI'm not sold that Jackson is a QB that can lift his team through the play offs like a Mahomes has or Allen almost has in the past. Bills haven't made the big game with Allen but he has had God mode play off performances that Jackson hasn't yet.Biffer wrote: Fri Jan 19, 2024 12:33 pmYeah, it’s a shame, that would have been a cracking game with fewer injuries on the Bills D (but who knows, they may surprise me). I would love a Bills Lions Super Bowl. But I think Ravens 49ers is more likely. Although I’m not convinced by the niners, they’ve had a very easy schedule this year. Three of their five losses came against AFC opponents (Ravens, Bengals, Browns) and I think that’s a reflection of how weak the NFC is.Big D wrote: Fri Jan 19, 2024 12:07 pm I fear for my Bills this week. LB and CB rooms like A+E wards.
Would love Detroit to make it.
"Lamar Jackson is 0-4 in playoff games when his opponent scores more than 13 points".
Awful. It isn't 100% his fault, but of the the other big AFC teams, KCC, Bills and a fit Bengals all their QBs would lead them to a better record than that. It is awful for a proposed two time MVP to have that sort of stat in play offs.

That throw into triple coverage for the interception in the end zone was criminal.
Yeah, that was rank rotten. Open man coming across the ten yard line in front of him as well.Hal Jordan wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 8:06 pm That throw into triple coverage for the interception in the end zone was criminal.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?
Nah, it was a top quality defensive game. Defensive line play from SF was terrific, KC defensive backs superb.Gumboot wrote: Mon Feb 12, 2024 4:40 am Thought it was a good finish to an average game, tbh. Without the overtime it would've been a nothing burger.
Appreciate that a lot of it was in the technicalities, like the way the SF defensive ends maintained the containment on the outside to make sure that Mahomes had to go backwards if he was scrambling sideways, but it was great to watch.

Fair enough, agree that the defensive play by both teams was exceptional.Biffer wrote: Mon Feb 12, 2024 8:37 pmNah, it was a top quality defensive game. It's a silly little thing, but look at the two scrimmage lines.
The KC ones have the wit to have long sleeves, because it's bloody cold, & for some unknown reason the Texans decide to rock short sleeves, because ?????

Really didn’t expect the Commanders to win that. But I reckon Detroits injury list finally came home - nine defensive linemen, two linebackers and five cornerbacks out. Defence could offer no resistance to Washington and got zero turnovers, compare to the five Detroit gave away, several of them from pushing too hard.

Bills did enough in the end. Called a very conservative offensive game plan in the second half to run the clock down and just hung on.
A lot of the blame will fall on Andrews but for the fumble Jackson just lets the ball go. It was very strange.

Washington have produced some excellent stuff but more than cancelled it out with some incredibly dumb and often unforced dumb plays. Good warm up for England’s 6N I suppose.
Nothing beats knockout sport IMO, and NFL playoffs are some of the best of the lot
