Anyone know the score in the other game?
If only that were true, they have the upper hand up front, they should be playing tighter, the forwards are making loads of ground. They just seem to be doing 2 carries and then passing it out, regardless of whats going on.fishfoodie wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 8:02 pmThey're relying on the forwards & the set piece like English teams have since the beginning of time.

The problem being that the mutants we field at this level tend to be caught up with at senior and then they don't really go anywhere because all they ever relied on was being bigger than the opposition. It definitely feels like the conversion rate of U20s tight five forward to Prem level pros, let alone full fledhed internationals, is very poor.fishfoodie wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 8:02 pmThey're relying on the forwards & the set piece like English teams have since the beginning of time.
Scotland leading 14-7 at the break

I think is where our structures really help. We've always been under-resourced in forwards, particularly the front row, so when a prospect pops his head up at any level, he can expect the concierge treatment from the IRFU, so he doesn't go astray.sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 8:06 pmThe problem being that the mutants we field at this level tend to be caught up with at senior and then they don't really go anywhere because all they ever relied on was being bigger than the opposition. I think the boys were all born in Ireland, & their parents came for Georgia, but I'll defer to our resident 'tarf man, laurent.

there's more than 10 mins to go gents, that's more than enough time with the scores as close as they are

Encouraging to see the boys come back into it, but Ireland should've been out of sight by now.
He should've binned someone after awarding the second try. Immediately prior when he gave advantage, he added 'That's cynical for me'. I don't think he wants to give a card at all.

I thought that as well.

Bench forwards have definitely made a difference.
And another.

Jesus, that's probably a fair result, but that last phase was complete bollocks. Advantage for what looked for all the world like a fair contest in the air. Plays on for almost 2 minutes and 25 metres up field before calling it back.
England backline looked poor again generally though and Wright was badly missed at hooker.

We had Ukrainian and Georgian at the club (Both much irished) I left 'tarf a while back. Vakh Akbaladze and Alex Soroka were both Irish from expat families. (georgian and Ukrainian).fishfoodie wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 8:41 pm

Usanov decends from Brian Boru it seems ;)
Someone said there's 190 T14 + ProD2 caps in that team before Tuilagi was added (and he has 3 appearances for the national side already!)
Mad stuff
To be clear, I think that's an excellent stat. I raise my eyebrows a bit about guys with senior caps playing u20 but the number of club appearances speaks to how well French rugby is doing in giving their youth a chance
