The artist paints portraits in this style regardless of subject. This painting is part of a larger exhibition featuring a number of his works and includes images of Queen Elizabeth, Cathy Freeman, Scott Morrison as PM and a host of others.

He is a First Nations man, Vincent Namatjira.

Gina Rinehart is the daughter of Lang Hangcock, West Australian mining magnate who discovered the vast iron ore deposits of the Pilbara when he noticed the instruments in his light plane reacting when he flew over certain areas. His mining empire, inherited by Gina is vastly wealthy. She has been embroiled in various court actions fighting to defend accusations of stealing the inheritance of her own children through misappropriation of company assets into various entities and froze two of the children out of the companies in favour of another when playing them off against each other in those legal battles. She has also been involved in court action with the estate of her father's original business partner fighting claims for royalties share based on the original partnership.

Among her many acts of 'philanthropy' are various corporate sponsorship deals like her support of the Australian Olympic swim team. Members of that swim team were approached by representatives of her mining company and urged to contact the gallery to complain about this particular portrait... with 20 members of the team signing a letter to that effect.

Her father once famously commented that the best way to deal with the Aboriginal 'problem' (tribespeople living on land targetted for mining) would be to wipe them out. Gina hasn't gone quite that far in her public statements but she has no time for First Nations people or their legal claims to continuous ownership of land.

Gina is a principle supporter of Right Wing think tank the IPA which is closely connected with the Australian Liberal Party, being a key policy director of that party while Tony Abbott was it's leader and PM. She has at times, made public statements supporting a sort of return to 1950s social and corporate values.

She's a cunt.

Fund?

She's a donor... but it comes at a cost.

https://www.hancockprospecting.com.au/b ... -payments/
The 69-year-old Australian billionaire has reportedly stopped contributing money to Swimming Australia for the past two years — instead supporting 92 elite swimmers with direct payments through the Hancock Prospecting Swimmer Support Scheme — leaving the federation with a $7 million shortfall in sponsorship revenue. This week, details about her frustrations with Swimming Australia finally came to light.

According to a report by News Corp, Rinehart cut ties with Swimming Australia because athletes were receiving their payments late and she didn’t feel like she had a voice in the organization. The 69-year-old also asked the Swimming Australia board to add a delegate from her company, Hancock Prospecting, but the representative was not given voting power and repeatedly asked to leave due to conflicts.

FFS it seems anyone can call themselves an artist nowadays regardless of a complete lack of ability. I KNOW I've no artistic talent and I'd be mortified if I'd done a daub like that and anyone saw it,

Dunno mate, every one of that guy's portraits is instantly recognisable. Do you reckon you could do that?

Love seeing all the closeted right-wingers coming out saying "Well, it's not really art is it?"

Seems that she's trying to get a different painting of herself on display. Helps that it's painted by the wife of one of her execs.
