That certainly may be part of it; but a significant, possibly even most, of these incidents are due to size/weight and mounting issues. Russian glide bombs are basically the product of rushed jerry-rigging of dumb bombs, that are far bigger and heavier than the GLSDB glide bombs the Ukrainians are using, with improvised mounts. The net result is that ordinance that is too big and heavy for the mounts required for properly developed glide bombs causes the mounts to break under any significant G-force and they literally fall off the planes.

Even when they actually do manage to properly launch one the accuracy is absolutely dire. They hit Ukrainian positions due to the sheer amount yeeted at those rather than being either accurate or reliable.

The former head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Moldova, Igor Gorgan, actively collaborated with Russian intelligence. This was reported by The Insider.

The material states that Gorgan corresponded with a curator from the Russian GRU, Colonel Alexei Makarov. He regularly reported on the internal political situation in Moldova, and also transmitted data on visits of representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, who were engaged in the purchase of equipment and shells for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is reported that Gorgan worked on the General Staff until the end of 2021. Then President Maia Sandu dismissed him. Despite this, the general still had many supporters in the Ministry of Defense of Moldova, who supplied him with secret information.

In July 2023, Gorgan got a job at the UN refugee office in Chisinau. This agency registers all refugees from Ukraine and helps them settle in a new place.

After the publication of this investigation, The Insider learned that Gorgan was temporarily suspended from work at this UN office. The organization is reportedly concerned about the serious allegations against him and will conduct its own internal investigation.

Here’s another thread about Russian vehicle losses, this time about Russian tank losses for May 2024. This month saw the tank loss rate remain very high, with @Warspotting listing 119 tanks lost or damaged for an average daily loss rate of 3.774 tanks per day. For comparison, in May of last year Russia had only lost 55 tanks. It is also worth noting that while historically high, tank losses at this rate have been standard so far this year, with 100+ tanks being lost every month except March.

For specific tank models, the main standout this month was the T-72. As @HighMarsed pointed out in a recent thread, the T-72 has been declining as a percentage of the whole since the outbreak of the war. That trend was pronounced this month as the T-72 declined in both total losses and proportionally falling to 31 tanks and 33% of identifiable tank losses from 45 tanks 43% last month, making this the second lowest month for the T-72s percentage in this war. That percentage will probably rebound to a degree in the coming months, but that won't change the overall trend. The remaining tank types stayed mostly the same, with the T-62 and especially T-80 increasing, while both lost more in May then in April, they only lost 2 and 5 more respectively. Their gains on the chart are a result of the increased losses and the T-72 decreasing.

Looking at the bigger picture, this quarter so far has had a very high daily loss rate. For the first two moths of Q2 2024 the average is exactly 4 tanks lost per day (New losses added since the graph was made). If that average held then Q2 would be the worst full quarter of Russian tank losses since the war started. But there is no guarantee that that will happen, any of the trends talked about could dramatically change for reasons we can’t foresee. Even if Q2 2024 does average out that high it would only be the second highest quarter in terms of tanks lost per day. That’s a result of the calculations I use only including days after February 24, 2022 when calculating Q1 2022’s daily loss rate. In those 36 days Russia managed to lose more tanks than they lost in most full quarters, which is why the average for Q1 2022 is so high.

Considering they were already refurbishing T-80Bs and UDs early this year, I think by now they must have run out of stored T-80s and the stuff already being refurbished is all that's left. So probably enough to replenish losses until fall.
