Kicking off in Israel
I've seen a number as high as 270+. A very high cost was paid by the Palestinians for the four hostages.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 10:20 pmLess good is the scores of civilians who were killed during the operation.

They can send the bill to Hamas who knew, without a single doubt, that actions like this would happen.Kiwias wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 9:06 amI've seen a number as high as 270+. By that reasoning then, the IDF are Hamas’ little bitch because they’re doing just what Hamas want them to…David in Gwent wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 9:44 amThey can send the bill to Hamas who knew, without a single doubt, that actions like this would happen.Kiwias wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 9:06 amI've seen a number as high as 270+. Hamas are manipulating people like you to garner sympathy through the actions they took that they knew would lead to situations like this.
You're Hama's bitch, actually.
I saw a figure the other day that Israel have taken something like 9000 hostages since the start of thisKiwias wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 9:06 amI've seen a number as high as 270+. I'm sure due process is being rigidly adhered to in all 9000 cases.

Have looked for this and sources but only source seems to be IDF and thousands of accounts tweeting it. Something this serious is bound to be corroborated by independent media.
Also reported that 3 hostages were killed in the operation but that seems to be coming from Hamas so treat with caution.
It's a stupid fact anyway. Maybe they were, but were the owners still there, were they under duress, etcUncle fester wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2024 12:05 pmHave looked for this and sources but only source seems to be IDF and thousands of accounts tweeting it. The owners were killed, the dispute is if the one guy was employed by AL Jazeera. Hamas claims he was an employee of another news agency. who knows if the family was under duress.
some footage of the rescue operation:

I know CNN gets derided by many people but their reporting has been far better than the BBC when it comes to this war

The Israeli military has quietly handed over significant legal powers in the occupied West Bank to pro-settler civil servants working for the far-right minister Bezalel Smotrich.

The West Bank - former Jordanian territory which they lost in a war with Israel. It will take a war to win it back - no amount of protest will succeed.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2024 7:01 am The Israeli military has quietly handed over significant legal powers in the occupied West Bank to pro-settler civil servants working for the far-right minister Bezalel Smotrich.

That's a bonkers line of reasoning. We should just accept Russian expansionism because "it will take a war to win it back"?Enzedder wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2024 6:12 pmThe West Bank - former Jordanian territory which they lost in a war with Israel. And just in case we were unclear on the move to annex.

Yeah, but with the war in Ukraine it’s mostly good guys against genocidal fascist cunts. In the West Bank it's two sets of cunts in an intractable conflict. Plus the war in Ukraine is of far far greater global importance than whatever happens in the West Bank

There won't be much of the West Bank left soon:
https://www.theguardian.com/world/artic ... g-violence
They're also threatening to take "Lebanon back to the stone age"
I still can't get my head around how this will lead to peace for Israel

How is the war in Ukraine of "greater global importance" than what happens in Israel? I'm asking genuinely here. Why should Latin Americans or Africans care about Ukraine?
This seems like a Eurocentric point of view which inflates the importance of the west to the rest of the world.

It is bonkers as the West Bank was not „former Jordan territory“. It was occupied by Jordan in 1948. Former Mandatory Britain. Former Ottoman Empire… and so on…Uncle fester wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 10:11 pmThat's a bonkers line of reasoning. Ask for example an Egyptian how food prices specifically bread have increased the last 2 years. 10 fold!!Hugo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 4:28 pmHow is the war in Ukraine of "greater global importance" than what happens in Israel? Israel is the pustule on relations between the middle east and the west so yeah, it's kind of important.Hugo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 4:28 pmHow is the war in Ukraine of "greater global importance" than what happens in Israel? Am amazed that folks who can clearly see that Russia grabbing land that doesn't belong to it is wrong, struggle to see the same when it's Israel cosplaying as a western nation doing the same thing.

And this makes all the cosying up between the Gulf States & Israel, facilitated by Javanka so transparently bullshit.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 9:53 pmIsrael is the pustule on relations between the middle east and the west so yeah, it's kind of important.Hugo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 4:28 pmHow is the war in Ukraine of "greater global importance" than what happens in Israel? It's been an article of faith that anything that goes wrong since 1948, is because of the Jews !!!
And all of a sudden, you have some of the Gulf states trying to undo ~80 years of this manipulation & quelle surprise Rodders, they now look like fucking idiots, because Bibi fucked them over, & reinforced the 80 year old narrative, & made every Arab who tried normalizing relations with Israel look like a complete traitor .... so well done Javanke and well done the twats who gave him billions
To draw a comparison, think how we might feel if Ukraine attacked Russia and then lost land in the subsequent battle.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 9:53 pmIsrael is the pustule on relations between the middle east and the west so yeah, it's kind of important.Hugo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 4:28 pmHow is the war in Ukraine of "greater global importance" than what happens in Israel? Let's draw that comparison a little further... how might we feel about that if Ukraine had been consistently under attack with land being stolen for 80 years.Enzedder wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2024 1:21 amTo draw a comparison, think how we might feel if Ukraine attacked Russia and then lost land in the subsequent battle.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 9:53 pmIsrael is the pustule on relations between the middle east and the west so yeah, it's kind of important.Hugo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 4:28 pm

It's a bloody stupid comparison to try and draw. Israel is clearly in the wrong here and October 7th last year is just one event in a long series of tit for tat atrocities.

If Russia had taken over the land that is now Ukraine and corralled most of Ukrainian population into tiny pockets of land subject to constant encroachment and harassment by Russian settlers and military, then yes I absolutely would.Enzedder wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2024 1:21 amTo draw a comparison, think how we might feel if Ukraine attacked Russia and then lost land in the subsequent battle.Uncle fester wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 9:53 pmIsrael is the pustule on relations between the middle east and the west so yeah, it's kind of important.Hugo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 4:28 pm

Also please inform us when a genuine state called Palestine attacked Israel?
They've tried soooo hard to minimise casualties:

There cannot be another country of that size and population that can pull strings like Israel can. A Palestinian-American model pulled from an ad campaign after one phone call.

One of the most startling things about modern Israel is how right wing and extreme the youth are. It's very evident with the folks we work with.
