He had no idea what was going on after that. I’ll be very surprised if he’s back.

Interesting one there....

5 did the initial head roll, but imo not really dangerous.
8 came in diving and completed the roll with Marx's head stuck between his legs. Much bigger chance of bodily harm.

Utterly embarrassing dive and attempt to win a penalty by the winger there. Appalling stuff.

Great strike.

Some test match
Could have gone either way.

Hope Frawley gets more starting opportunities going forward now - he's class.

Well played Ireland, better team won.

Ireland didn't make one single mistake under the high ball. We gave away all our possession.... By kicking up and unders to the Irish backs. What a winning strategy by the Boks.

Congrats to Ireland and their supporters. Only realize now how it feel losing with one point. On the day they were the better team and deserve the win.

This will be good for the Springboks, lots to work on before the real rugby starts.

That's great taste. He was the captain and nothing wrong asking the ref to double check. I thought the vokken Irish player pushing him should have been bliksemed.

Well, that's it for summer test series forever. They've been awful, haven't they?

I'm sure this Nations Cup will provide far more excitement and entertainment value.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

Congrats Ireland, got the only try so a deserved win. Try came in a similar way to what I feared, quick play from a dropout, as Schalk said in the commentary similar to the one Ireland scored in the 1st test.

Le Roux going off at the very start with a HIA (nothing in it, an accident) hurt the Boks the most in the end. SFM was a mixed bag, some really good stuff, but it's still losing a player with 94 caps for a rookie with 1 cap. Reckon SFM's finishing cost the Boks in the end, pointlessly kicked away some ball he should've held, but the goalie save of the ball going out wasn't good (could've let it go out, it was covered if somehow the Irish kept it in play), end of the match and gave Ireland a lineout in the Bok half with 2 points in it when Ireland had already scored a drop goal, that was a facepalm moment. Can't blame one guy obviously, probably why the SS guys went out of their way to praise SFM after the match. First half was a write off for the Boks, second half they didn't convert anything into tries and that's where it was lost.

A shame there's no third test.

You mysteriously disappeared after that match. Fair enough, it was a hard loss, the greatest ever French team getting knocked out of a RWC at home. Now you comment Du Toit should've been red carded in that match?

One wonders if we're slowly going to be drip fed your views on that match over the course of many years and many Bok match threads!

Hrmm, that's a stretch, I think. The current team is a decent side, Dupont is one of the best rugby players I've ever seen, maybe the best, but I'm not sure many others in the current side make the "Best French XV of All Time", as much as I like Penaud, he might make it, might.
None of the pack or centres imo.
Fly half is a bit off the wall in France.

Always said that was the only chance in my lifetime for a Fre RWC win. But the majority of contributing factors to that loss were self inflicted so it was time to take a breather from rugby.

Mostly just going on what their media and fans were saying. The "more than the sum of their parts" argument has to be there when discussing a team, for the Boks there's a lot of past players that were more talented than players in the current side, it doesn't mean those past teams were better though. It also becomes hard to assess these things if you go back too far, there were good French teams in the 90s but I also recall the Boks beating those some of those sides quite badly, and it's a completely different era to now.

You are a bit unfair on SFM. Vok it's only his 2nd test and got the Springboks back with his individual skills after that dreadful 1st half. If he played in his preferred 10 position it would have been a totally different story. Pollard don't have the attacking skills like him or Libbok. Willie can be kak on most days.

Our line out drive was non existing. Hats off to the Irish youngster winning it for them.

It is a completely different era to now, yeah, but if you give those players from back then modern S&C and nutrition, plus full time skills training, they would be awesome players, from all countries.

edit, I agree on the sum of the parts thing, but there are certain times when everything aligns such as when the ABs were fielding their GOATs in many positions if not all, even then not everything went their way - it's a funny old game as the saying goes
