The FBI director now querying whether Trump was hit by a bullet or by shrapnel.
I have wondered why there wasn't more damage, as a significant chunk of the injury is caused by the shockwave of the supersonic object on the body.
Anyway, I also don't really see what difference it ultimately makes, he was shot at by an idiot, was injured by said shooting, could realistically have died in said shooting,, and some poor sod actually did die. Aside from Trump just being incapable of being truthful.

And at this point, you'd imagine almost everyone has picked a side on that. Either you accept that he's possibly the most mendacious man to have ever lived or you think everyone else is lying about him being a liar. Exposing one more untruth won't move the dial.inactionman wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 4:21 pm The FBI director now querying whether Trump was hit by a bullet or by shrapnel.

I wanted to post a meme that popped up in @threads but the image won't link...
essentially a line about Kamala joking they'd stuck pantyliners to their ears and started ranting about common sense.

The CheetoLord could never manage a turnout like that. I know it's a long way out but Kamala has become an absolute force of nature, within mere days.
They broke Zoom and around 30000 were tuned in on Youtube to join the party.katiephang

They’re raising $20,000 per minute. They’ve already exceeded $1 million dollars!

Trump's been hating on women. The Taylor Swift phenomenon should have warned them...mobilise that group behind a candidate and you've got a fucking huge swell of support. There's reports that Swifties are organising QR codes for voter registration to distribute at her concerts so fans can 'do both at once', Taylor herself has remained silent due to the safety threats she's openly discussed for herself and her family if she declares one way or another... byt Beyonce has come out in support of Kamala.
Trump has mobilised American women... against himself.

It was true before and it's even more true now with this latest funding blitz - Kamala has to at least be on the ticket to retain all the money raised. There is no one in the democratic party other than perhaps Bernie Sanders (who, if nothing else, would allow the Republicans to get their 'old man' attacks going again) with similar name recognition, so she really is the default nominee now. Something extradordianry would have to happen for anyone to usurp her.

I don't think the USA is ready for a black, female president AND a declared gay man in a committed marriage to another gay man as VP...
as appealing as the idea may be to those of us who do not live in the Home of the Brave, Land of the Free. They're just not ready.
Well Trump has no reason not to debate now....
Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris. We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you’ll join us.
She 's already secured pledges of support from many more Democratic delegates than she needs to secure the nomination so no one is getting close to usurping her.sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 8:33 am It was true before and it's even more true now with this latest funding blitz - Kamala has to at least be on the ticket to retain all the money raised. He wrote that? I thought that message was from Vin Diesel and Michele Rodriguez

Logically one might query then is America ready for a declared gay man in a committed marriage with a straight man?Guy Smiley wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 9:23 amI don't think the USA is ready for a black, female president AND a declared gay man in a committed marriage to another gay man as VP...

Mayor Pete is an outstanding public speaker, and I really rather like him, whether he's actually a leader and someone to drive policy isn't so clear. The infrastructure projects are okay, but somehow underwhelming.
For now Mark Kelly looks a very easy choice as VP, but we shall see

I always hold a concern for a politician who like Gordon Brown wants a coronation not a challenge when coming into the leadership role, it just doesn't say anything good about them.Lobby wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 9:34 amShe 's already secured pledges of support from many more Democratic delegates than she needs to secure the nomination so no one is getting close to usurping her.sockwithaticket wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 8:33 am It was true before and it's even more true now with this latest funding blitz - Kamala has to at least be on the ticket to retain all the money raised. There are so many outstanding candidates for Kamala to choose from, including Kelly and Mayor Pete. I reckon she might go for Josh Shapiro.Rhubarb & Custard wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 9:38 amLogically one might query then is America ready for a declared gay man in a committed marriage with a straight man?Guy Smiley wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 9:23 am I don't think the USA is ready for a black, female president AND a declared gay man in a committed marriage to another gay man as VP...

A bit bored today so I did a Wiki search for female heads of state (PMs and presidents). The USA lags a long way behind the rest of the world.

Now their lick spittles with make a big deal of them not endorsing immediately, when the right thing to do was wait awhile, & get a second set of positive headlines, & then again at the Convention. No point in everyone endorsing immediately & the MSM moving on the next day.TB63 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 9:26 am Well Trump has no reason not to debate now....

I reckon the delay in them announcing their backing is actually a smart move. If they done it immediately it would have been lost in the noise. Doing it now, a week later, gives another push to the positive news and momentum behind her.TB63 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 9:26 am Well Trump has no reason not to debate now....

This time last week and there's no way I would have suggested that the Democrats could come with any sort of decent strategy, aside from the Biden steps down for Harris theme that everyone expected.Biffer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 10:09 amI reckon the delay in them announcing their backing is actually a smart move. To see them do that and then play an absolute blinder every step of the way is breathtaking.
There is a sense of unity and cooperation within the party that is so refreshing as we are used to the Dems fucking things up with stupid infighting and political gamesmanship. Instead, we are seeing all those traits being displayed by the GOP. It is glorious to witness.Guy Smiley wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 10:13 am This time last week and there's no way I would have suggested that the Democrats could come with any sort of decent strategy, aside from the Biden steps down for Harris theme that everyone expected.

Is it a generational thing? Gen X finally stepping up to the plate and saying 'fuck it boomers, you've had your time, it's our approach now, let's get the fuck on with it'?Kiwias wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 10:19 amThere is a sense of unity and cooperation within the party that is so refreshing as we are used to the Dems fucking things up with stupid infighting and political gamesmanship. The first GenXers are pushing 60 and that generation hasn't provided a president to date.

I'm always reluctant to give credit to groups for decisions and even more so when those groups are the damned Gen whatevers. I think there's too many individual agenda at play and rarely do you get an entire age group unite over an issue. We all have our different backgrounds, etc...Biffer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 10:34 amIs it a generational thing? but what I do agree with here is the idea of 'it's time for change' and while there's an age component to that, I reckon this is more about gender. We're seeing a leading female politician with the background, the experience and what looks like the talent to own her chance here and that's new. Yeah... Hilary, but Hilary didn't really deserve that shot based on her career.
Not only an empowered woman, but a coloured woman at that... there's clearly a massive slice of the US demographic that is more then ready for that change and is embracing the idea with enthusiasm. Stale, pale and male is finally taking some real fire...
and I quite like it, myself.
He would be a really good choice. I hope he gets the offer and that he accepts. He ticks a bunch of great boxes for the ticket:Rhubarb & Custard wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 9:38 amLogically one might query then is America ready for a declared gay man in a committed marriage with a straight man?Guy Smiley wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 9:23 amI don't think the USA is ready for a black, female president AND a declared gay man in a committed marriage to another gay man as VP...

- Straight, white male. Not that that should matter, but it will appeal to a part of the electorate that don't want an all-female ticket.
- Likeable and charismatic
- Bring Arizona in fray
- Military Veteran so strong on those issues
- Wife is a gun violence survivor so has perspective there
- Strong on science and innovation
- Strong on support for Ukraine and could make a good case in a debate against Vance
The list goes on and on...
The 2 big landmine issues for Harris (or Kelly if he is the nominee) are Gaza and the Border. Those are the two most nuanced issues that they could trip over as there are no easy answers that will please everybody.
I don’t think we’ve been close since Kim was basically handed the wheel of a fast sinking ship. Conservatives went from, iirc, a majority to just two seats in the next election, with a further right party taking their base (but losing to majority Liberal).Kiwias wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 9:59 am A bit bored today so I did a Wiki search for female heads of state (PMs and presidents). There’s talk the female Finance Minister could oust Trudeau as leader next year but she’s not exactly popular either and I fear the Trump-light Mike Johnson lookalike Con leader will end up winning. :(
