My Frankenstein complete. Adjacent the plan for the balance of my sleeve coming below Frankenstein.

That hairline was a 3 hour sitting.
The original face without the hairline was a 5 hour sitting

Franki finished balance of sleeve

My wife has a large eye on her forearm. Unfortunately the artist didn't perform on the day and so it looks completely lifeless. We are back at Hellhound Tattoo studio because Tyrone really understands our choice of subjects. And he is an artist. So what he is going to do is freehand a dragons eye around the existing eye as a cover up and sleeve for my wifes forearm. We are booked. Just waiting for her date now. Eg of dragons eye below. Obviously he is going to freehand and draw it on the arm. The idea is to get as much scale and tendrils detail in as possible. And wrap it around the arm. Hoping for an amazing sleeve

Sorry. This is the eye my wife decided on

Dragons eye 2

Because of her original eye being human. This is the closest they got to that, without the slit eye look

Human eye to dragon eye coverup

So that's the start and first session on the cover up.

First the black layer is applied. As shown in the second pic.

2 weeks healing. My wife has a week to go.

Then a second session is apply the white to build up depth

2 weeks healing again.

The 3rd session is to apply the orange. It also goes between the scales.
Also the eye.

2 weeks healing again.

Last session just the tidy up.

The detail is insane. Tyrone the artist wants to show this coverup in his portfolio so is going all out.
They changed the dragon eye selection when they worked on the template. This head fitted better around the eye

Part 2. Adding white

White added today's session.
2 weeks he does the eye and adds the orange between the scales

Each sitting is 5 hours

3rd session done.
Added color between the scales and did the eye.
He wanted to go back to black to finish the horn which is the old eyebrow. And also put more black in where he added color. But my wifes skin is still tender so that will be another session

I reckon that's a decent coverup

In the meantime he convinced me to add a Zenomorph to my legendary monsters theme. Perfect timing with the new movie just launching

I've never mentioned it before but despite being English (and naturally a fan of the England team) I have a silver fern on my back.

I got it when I was 23 years old, it was moreso something I got done as a testament to my rugby fandom, as in there is no symbol more synonymous with rugby than the fern leaf. That plus I was massive fan of Zinzan Brooke, thought the bloke personified everything great about rugby.

Over the years I've variously thought about getting it taken off but also adding to it, not sure exactly how. Maybe the CCC in the middle of my back and Steinlager on the left shoulder blade in the fashion of the mid 90s AB jerseys.

Will see if I can get a decent picture of it to put up.

Well I watched Alien Romulus last week after a decent version without subtitles and advertising plastered all over the screen. Just in time for my session today. Bit disappointed in the movie. Alien wasn't hardcore and they died too easily. Anyway I need to finish my sleeve as quickly as possible with age creeping up and my skin deteriorating.
Anyway here's the stencil and the start of getting the black in

I just realized the Xenomorph is not complete without its tail. We are going to fix that as soon as it's healed

Xenomorph tail

Thereafter we are working on the predator. We are looking for one without the helmet so we can see how ugly a m%$#÷ f#%^^$ he is

So I sat a week ago for the Predator. It was a very uncomfortable sit as my arm was twisted behind me and I was lying on my stomach. The details are insane. I only could sit for 4 hours and then my arm went dead and I had pins and needles across my shoulder. The pain was nothing. It was just really uncomfortable. I have stopped there till after the holidays so I don't miss out on being in the sun and swimming.

All I can say is......" sick "

Ouboet my time for getting tattoos is very limited. My skin is still good but we don't know for how long before it becomes a problem. So pushing to get all the horror elements onto the arm that is not a sleeve yet so I can get it done. I have space for 2 more elements. Pennywise and undecided about the last one.
I have vampires, ghouls , gargoyles, siren , skulls, Medusa, werewolf, grim reaper, Frankie, pin head , alien and predator. Thats a great collection of the classic horrors. My son wants me to finish with Freddie. We will see

I understand the talent of the artist who do (good) tattoos but I've never really understood why somebody gets a random foot tattooed on their arm or a zombie skull on their calf etc. And then there are the face tattoo weirdos.

I sport many colourful tattoos and what I don't get (but to each their own) is the younger generation's tendency toward small, simple, black tattoos randomly placed about their bodies. Smells of copying the trend rather than getting something that's truly unique to them and taking advantage of the range of amazing artists and colours available these days. I suppose it's a style all its own, and maybe places it among a time/generation that can't afford more than a quick 45 min / $100 sitting, but I think it's lame.

Yeah, that's a style I've seen a fair bit of and really don't get. There again I'm also not a fan of trad American style work and that has its afficiandos. Everyone has their quirks.

The sub-reddit Awful Taste, But Great Execution (r/ATBGE) often throws up some truly bizarre work, this being a recent highlight:

Image

Objectively that is well drawn and coloured, but, for the life of me, I can't imagine why you'd want a penis made of potatoes in a military unform on your body forever.

Not generally a fan of black out work, but this sort of spin on it is pretty cool

My first tattoo, aged 52 3/4, will be a paw print of my recently deceased cat.
