I'd say a lot of the austerity decisions taken under DavCam's leadership were those of a cartoonishly evil villain. The rest of the clowns were more openly egregiously corrupt and caught up in Tory soap opera drama, but that should not paint Call Me Dave in anything resembling a good light.
George Osbourne was the architect of austerity and he wasn’t evil. Just misguided.
And everyone in that government agreed with his ideas and put them into practice. Osbourne is not solely to blame.
My definition of evil includes taking action that they knew would drastically spike homelessness and food bank usage among the populace, that unnecessarily cut public services to the bone to so great an extent that they are still reeling from the impact. Excess deaths increased markedly during the austerity period. It was a choice and it was at best driven by an indifference to the plight of the most vulnerable in society that is indistinguishable from malignant cruelty. I cannot stress how much I revile that government.
Even the odd thing they're credited for like introducing gay marriage is bollocks - more Tory MPs voted against that bill than for it, it passed despite them.
