Absolute giant of a man. Still holds a number of Highland Games world records and the sight of him smashing the Superstars Cycling sprint is utterly iconic. RIP

Was a copper and 3 time Olympian too I see.
Don't suppose he ever tried rugby?

Apparently 170kg at his peak and genuinely athletically gifted. Wow! Would have been quite a force on the rugby pitch if the shot or strongman hadn't beckoned.

Didn't he have a go at American Football? Think he was with the London Monarchs for a bit.

Amazing athlete, and came across as a person who did things their way, but did things decently and bloody impressively. His view on drugs cheats, for example:

Another childhood hero of mine :-(

I remember in the Superstars tv show when he was in the kayaking event, David Coleman(?) said something like, "He doesn't so much get into the kayak, more that he puts it on"
