John Sykes, who wrestled lightning into a bottle with David Coverdale for Whitesnake 87 before they started electrocuting each other, has died aged 65.
I'm rather bummed out, 87 was the first rock album I bought, aged 11, and opened the door into a world of guitars and OTT performances as I moved deeper into metal etc. as I turned to my teenage years.

Saw the recording of Thin Lizzy from "Rock Goes to College" ( remember that. fellow Brits?) with John Sykes, at the time had no idea who he was
