2025 6N thread
Two things from Ireland v England
1. Itoje captaincy. He already looks to have the Jamie Ritchie vibe i.e. he seems to irritate refs. This could go badly for him.
2. Mack Hansen blood injury. What a pile of shite. Went off holding his already bandaged knee, came back fifteen minutes later with a bigger bandage on it. Cheating Irish fucks.

And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

Aviva incidentally makes Twickenham sound noisy, 50,000 people chain eating chips and telling the ref to fuck off until they know they’ve won and manage a single rendition of Fields of Athenry.
England are directionless. There’s a talented side there but there’s just dumb error after dumb error followed by a missed tackle. Very frustrating.
Fun day out though. A Welsh mate of mine who has been to probably 50/60 of their games said that his first trip with England was the first time he’s heard the phrase ‘can I see the wine list?’ on an international day, leaving him to sigh and say ‘look I want you to win today but this is why everyone fucking hates you’.

Bad news for Fin Smith, who missed an easy tackle against NZ immediately after coming on :-(
Back in early 89's I worked in pub in Edinburgh as a student. During 6Ns group of England rugby supporters came in and one asked what wine we had - I replied red or white, he asked for a rose so I gave him one red and one white. He wasn't amused!Kawazaki wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2025 11:24 amPaddington Bear wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2025 10:29 am Aviva incidentally makes Twickenham sound noisy, 50,000 people chain eating chips and telling the ref to fuck off until they know they’ve won and manage a single rendition of Fields of Athenry.

New Zealand for starters. They've been doing it far longer.

England keep losing with Marcus at flyhalf. The buck will have to stop with him eventually.

Get a decent coach and captain.
Well, quite famously, England have lost several matches that they were winning when Marcus got subbed or moved from fly half, so perhaps he's not actually the problem?Kawazaki wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2025 12:32 pm

More whataboutery. Good player but he's only good for Marcus Smith.
Judge him with the same lens you've judged previous England 10s.
That's not what whataboutery is. It's addressing your core point. The fact that you don't like it isn't my problem.Kawazaki wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2025 2:20 pmJM2K6 wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2025 2:07 pmWell, quite famously, England have lost several matches that they were winning when Marcus got subbed or moved from fly half, so perhaps he's not actually the problem?Kawazaki wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2025 12:32 pm

It's exactly what whataboutery is. The fact that you don't like people judging Marcus Smith on England performances and results isn't my problem.
Lmao I'm literally talking about the same games you are, on the same topic, and pointing out an important detail. Marcus Smith has been the starting England 10 for the last 8 matches. England have won two of them, both against Japan.
England didn't score a try between the 8th minute and the 75th minute yesterday.
It's like you don't even remember the whole frustration with Smith being moved from 10 in winning positions and England losing, or the glut of games where we didn't score a point after him being moved, but somehow I also don't think you actually care. Knock yourself out, champ. Just try not to get too racist about it

England scored two tries with Fin at 10 and he was only on the pitch for 15 minutes.
Imagine if he'd started at 10 and had 65 minutes there.
This is how your logic works. Marcus good, everything else less good. I get it, you're a hopelessly lovesick Quins fan desperate to see your boys do well and you won't have any nasty internet man criticise him.
Well, tough shit. You can't hide him on the wing like England have to, he needs to start making the team tick or gtfo.

For what it's worth, I'd be starting Finn instead of Marcus but Marcus was quite good in a shambles of a team yesterday I thought.

Yes, alas, only 10 successfully. It would have made a big difference had he been able to stop Aki or the winner, especially given his enthusiasm to make up for the latter with a big tackle led to his yellow. Still, he was putting himself about in defence and making a lot of tackles, unlike Slade, Mitchell, and Earl. Perhaps we should hide those guys.

That's the crux of the issue for England - their midfield defence is poor.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2025 1:02 pm16 tackles missed by 8,9,10-12 axis for England: Earl, Mitchell, Smith-Slade. Abject stuff.

FYI, the context is an exchange specifically about the starting 10 losing every match bar a couple of captains runs against the Japs.
Hope that helps though I'm not optimistic.
Yeah, that's why I pointed out that famously England lost matches they were winning when the starting 10 got moved or subbed. I realise your schtick is based on the hope that no one actually watches any of the matches or has any memory of events, but it's really not that long ago.Kawazaki wrote: Sun Feb 02, 2025 5:06 pm

Anyway, we've looped back round to the start again. Enjoy pissing in your own mouth, I'm sure it'll help assuage the continued pain you obviously feel over criticisms of Owen Farrell.
