Tickets went on sale for pre-registration this morning. I got tickets for all sorts - Men's Downhill, Freeski slopestyle, Women's Big Air, Snowboard Giant Slalom, Biathlon Pursuit, Short Track speed skating, Curling, Ice Hockey, Bobsleigh.
Not cheap but it'll be peanuts compared to accommodation I fear!
Winter Olympics 2026 Italy
One of my sporting bucket list events is a mens downhill in the Alps. Very jealous

What city is hosting it (I'm too lazy to google it)?
Never mind, it's Milan-Cortina I see

Skied in Cortina whilst staying in Selva Gardina, absolutely beautiful area! Very stylish chic town. If you ski then you must do the Hidden Valley - get a rickety cable car up mountain ski the Hidden Valley, from memory there are a couple of nice restaurant/huts on the piste and then at the bottom hang onto a rope towed by a horse drawn sleigh back to the next ski lift. Beautiful and brilliant day!tabascoboy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 4:48 pm What city is hosting it (I'm too lazy to google it)?

I believe we are currently top of the World Cup 4 man bobsleigh rankings.
Mens curling looking strong with the Mouat and Whyte teams doing well in slams back end of last year and this year. Team Whyte won a recent one. The Scottish Championships are tough this year!!
Think the Womans team may not be as strong as last time.
Among all the new additions to both Olympics, I actually think ski and boarder cross is pretty fun to watch.
I also enjoy seeing the icicle beards/boogers in the nordic while sat at home snuggled up all warm on the sofa. (I enjoy doing it myself, but not at a break-neck pace and not when it's super cold out.)

They are planing to add cyclo cross (not a joke) with less and less snow this makes sense and definitely a winter sport.Niegs wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 11:13 pm Among all the new additions to both Olympics, I actually think ski and boarder cross is pretty fun to watch.

I like that cross stuff as well, but have to say, despite the skills on show, I find the board half pipe and all the tricks stuff really, really dullNiegs wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 11:13 pm Among all the new additions to both Olympics, I actually think ski and boarder cross is pretty fun to watch.

And yet the half pipe is the most expensive event. I don’t get I either. I’m going to see the Big Air, which I think is pretty impressive regardless, the giant slalom, which is two boarders racing on parallel courses, and the slope style, which is the one with the rails and jumps.Slick wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 9:26 amI like that cross stuff as well, but have to say, despite the skills on show, I find the board half pipe and all the tricks stuff really, really dullNiegs wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 11:13 pm Among all the new additions to both Olympics, I actually think ski and boarder cross is pretty fun to watch.

And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?
Agreed. Halfpipe is meh.Slick wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 9:26 amI like that cross stuff as well, but have to say, despite the skills on show, I find the board half pipe and all the tricks stuff really, really dullNiegs wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 11:13 pm Among all the new additions to both Olympics, I actually think ski and boarder cross is pretty fun to watch.

Next level, they need to bring in...
The total expenses will certainly be significant because housing costs will be the largest item. Hopefully the experience will prove worthy of all the costs involved. The word "Bugger Off" contains a single "g" according to my understanding. Enjoy the Winter Olympics!

Wonder if they're thinking about adding cross country running too? Also a winter sport.laurent wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 8:23 amThey are planing to add cyclo cross (not a joke) with less and less snow this makes sense and definitely a winter sport.Niegs wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 11:13 pm Among all the new additions to both Olympics, I actually think ski and boarder cross is pretty fun to watch.
