I understand why everyone loves beating England:
We are shit
We are slow
We are badly coached
We have few world class players
We bang on about winning the RWC and numerous other finals
We have Marcus smith
And yet we pull wins like that out of the hat.
Very undeserved, awful game, but a funny end for England

If Ita v Wal was Laurel and Hardy, Eng v Fra was Dumb and Dumber.
Enjoyable watch though.

Somewhat predictable given conditions. Southern French had a shocker.

Um, Fin, why didn't you take the time there...???
Better to secure the points and trust your pack than risk the shot clock running dead, anyway.

Fin Smith clearly hasn't had much media training, that was a pretty honest interview!
Who won it? Id stormed out by thenJM2K6 wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 6:39 pm Haha, banter option for POTM to finish it off. Good story but fair to say that Curry or Earl or Freeman deserved it considering their work in the first half as well

He's always been like this. Back on the pre-amble to the RWC when it was a bunfight by Fre fans over Ramos and Jaminet, I warned that Ramos will go 10, 15 games with near perfect displays and then save all the f**k ups for 1 game. Fine if the f**k up is Namibia but, inevitably, it's always in a key game. SA in the RWC. Tonight. He really is old school Fre mentally. Fragile as f**k. As soon as he ballsed up a few times in the first half, Galthie should have hooked him because it was only ever going to get worse.Yeeb wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 6:07 pmIs he like how Mike Catt was for me ? The player you feel like emperors new clothes in where you are the only person to realise how shit he is ?
Yeah. He looks imperious when it's going well but that's easy, isn't it?

PS. did you read ROG in Bernol?laurent wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 6:42 pm Well done les rosbeefs.
I believe France won a contest for the most knockons in a game. Terrible.
Worse of this has been french pundits wanking themselves silly for 5 days and still going at it after the whistle...
"Le meilleur joueur français à l'heure actuelle est Thomas Ramos, écrit l'ancien demi d'ouverture dans sa chronique parue dans The Irish Examiner. La raison pour laquelle je dis cela, c'est que les modifications apportées par l'Angleterre (dans sa composition d'équipe, N.D.L.R.) ne font aucune différence, car il est si bon."

Yes, it's a funny choice! He had a bit of a shocker of a first half and a superb second, so the choice to forget all about the first half in favour of the narrative is very funny indeed and something I'm sure plenty of the players hope will happen in camp when the time comes to review it.
But in all seriousness, it's Curry or Earl or Freeman who really deserve it based on the whole match. And even more importantly, POTM doesn't matter in the slightest so treating it as anything other than something funny would be extremely strange

He took over the kicking and had the cajones to deliver.
He was the MoM.
At least, for the time being, we can put to rest who the best 10 in England is. That is serious progress.
Marcus did better than Steward would have done though, I'll give you that.

Try was scored at 78 minutes and something, 60 second shot clock. I know on the screen we had just enough time, but I wouldn't be surprised if the ref had already told him the game would restart.JM2K6 wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 6:33 pmNope. Give a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
Entirely possible. And Hal is right anyway, you can't dick around when it's a second or two. I blame the commentators for stressing me outRaggs wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 7:14 pmTry was scored at 78 minutes and something, 60 second shot clock. Your boy has been the starting 10 for the last year. England won fuck all. He had a decent run, he got a fair chance and he fucked it. He's a very talented player but he's not a player that leads. And he's flaky when under the cosh. I like him but he's not the answer at 10 for England.
Deep down you know this too.

I think I'll continue to revel in an extremely funny win rather than engage in whatever this is, thanks anyway!

How have we won in the last minute against France and our fans are continuing their decade long shitfight?
Atmosphere was unbelievable, the celebration of the final try has only been topped by things I’ve seen at football. Clearly some luck but think we’ve deserved a bit, also who cares.
Freeman, Curry and Smith (F) were superb and my god I love Daly

So with the minnow games out of the way, it's on to the main event tomorrow. I believe it's 2017 since the Scots got a win in this fixture and a few of those were down to them shooting themselves in the foot. Our luck will run out at some stage.
Could it be tomorrow with the home advantage and Irelands caretaker coach?
Suspect some of this is behind the thinking of bringing in POM and dropping Baird to the bench.

... if there's a Scottish YC, then it's 10 -1 on that POM causes the Scottish player to lose the plot

Scotland woke up too late, after Ireland bolted out to a TBP in the first ~25 minutes, but played some nice stuff in the 2nd half, & some promising signs for Scotland. For Ireland it was more like what they needed last weekend, & will need for the games to come.

The Joe Marler thing was a blip, admittedly

Pack got pumped in the first half making it very difficult for the backs, and defence was not working. The same preplanned mass subs is annoying as Murray is clearly not reading the game. Brightest sparks were both scrum halves - Cowan is like George Horne and Paterson has some wheels (though is a wee bit too selfish). If Urwin could place kick it would have looked a lot more respectable. Logan not up to the hype.fishfoodie wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 9:35 pm 15 - 33 FT in the U20s
