I’d be more concerned by both Slade and Genge trying a goose step while at full trundle, and Marcus doing one in a straight line in acres of space to absolutely no one. It’s a plague worse than the whooping and hollering (though someone did do a knee slide after Baxter’s try).Slick wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 7:26 pmIt’s not the right time for thisKawazaki wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 7:18 pm
Your boy has been the starting 10 for the last year. England won fuck all. He had a decent run, he got a fair chance and he fucked it. He's a very talented player but he's not a player that leads. And he's flaky when under the cosh. I like him but he's not the answer at 10 for England.
Deep down you know this too.

His try was very, very good, & as you say he really showed that he has proper pace, & to me, a bit more impressive, real composure, as the last kick was a bit of a horrlicks, but he didn't panic, he fell beyond the try line, & when the ball rolled in, just dabbed it down.Punter15 wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 9:49 pmPack got pumped in the first half making it very difficult for the backs, and defence was not working. Brightest sparks were both scrum halves - Cowan is like George Horne and Paterson has some wheels (though is a wee bit too selfish). If Urwin could place kick it would have looked a lot more respectable. Logan not up to the hype.fishfoodie wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 9:35 pm 15 - 33 FT in the U20s
Scotland woke up too late, after Ireland bolted out to a TBP in the first ~25 minutes, but played some nice stuff in the 2nd half, & some promising signs for Scotland. For Ireland it was more like what they needed last weekend, & will need for the games to come.
The England pack will be looking forward to this…
He could have buggered that up in twenty different ways, but he showed a top two inches that you can't train in a player; they either have it or they don't, & he has it !

We have Marcus smith
And yet we pull wins like that out of the hat.
Very undeserved, awful game, but a funny end for England
France making mistakes doesnt count as a choke on a wet night with plenty of handling errors.
I think Cowan’s all round game is better and the changes to the pack helped Paterson, but either way, it’s one area not to worry about.fishfoodie wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 10:04 pmHis try was very, very good, & as you say he really showed that he has proper pace, & to me, a bit more impressive, real composure, as the last kick was a bit of a horrlicks, but he didn't panic, he fell beyond the try line, & when the ball rolled in, just dabbed it down.Punter15 wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 9:49 pmPack got pumped in the first half making it very difficult for the backs, and defence was not working. Didn't that allow Smith to take contact on his own terms and get well over the gain line against two tacklers...?Punter15 wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 10:01 pmI’d be more concerned by both Slade and Genge trying a goose step while at full trundle, and Marcus doing one in a straight line in acres of space to absolutely no one. Also - it doesn’t matter. We beat one of the top 4 in the world in the last minute, the manner of doing so is irrelevant.
My god what an atmosphere as well, childhood memories of being there for Luger’s try vs Australia have a nice addition

Could it be tomorrow with the home advantage and Irelands caretaker coach?
Suspect some of this is behind the thinking of bringing in POM and dropping Baird to the bench.![]()

IIRC Neil Warnock hopes that his tribute after he dies will be crowds singing ‘Warnock is a wanker’, I feel POM feels much the same outside of IrelandUncle fester wrote: Sun Feb 09, 2025 12:15 amWhen he retires, everybody is going to be in agreement with what an awesome guy he is.Slick wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 9:49 pmI think I’m the only person in Scotland that quite likes the guyfishfoodie wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 9:29 pm

27 French handling errors is what is being quoted by Rugbypass. That is an utterly incompetent level for professional rugby players to be making no matter the conditions.tc27 wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 11:22 pmPretty much everything is wrong...weird self flagellation..are you on the Chagos negotiation team?

There is a school of thought on the Glasgow board that Matt Fagerson was selected over Jamie Ritchie for this weekend's game solely for the fact that he really got under POM's skin in the URC semi final and played him off Thomond Park.

But to stay on topic, that Glasgow URC win means I'm a lot more sanguine about whatever Scotland do in the 6N this year - that URC trophy has put a lot of rugby happiness in my reservoir to nullify the inevitable Scotland 6N choke / underperformance/ ridiculous bad luck.

If Scotland are going to defend like this it’ll be a very very long afternoon

Nah, you need to take your rose tinted glasses off of you think that was good England performance or we weren’t very lucky . The odd dropped ball, not a choke - but after repeat drops under no real pressure you could see a few French heads drop and start to over think stuff, there was one break when they were in but tried some Harlem globetrotters shit and messed it up (to a curry turnover iirc). And, being French, when the heads started to drop, the errors increased. They were ahead most of the game, and choked.tc27 wrote: Sat Feb 08, 2025 11:22 pmPretty much everything is wrong...weird self flagellation..are you on the Chagos negotiation team?

And if you are debating whether England under Borthwick are not shit and slow , then there isn’t really much point continuing this verbal discourse.
There are plenty of fair weather England fans warbling on about what a great game it was yesterday on social media , reality is that it was keystone cops rugby and utter shit quality bar a couple of decent tries . The only refreshing thing was that for first time in ages a competitive close game with an unlikely result was not caused by a contentious card or ref decison, but by multiple mutual incompetence spacfest, yin yang Marcus & torqs mate ramos

Should've been a pen try.

That was clearly a deliberate attempt to take out Nash by Van Der Merwe. Didn't look like he'd get the ball given its trajectory, so no pen try.
Yeah I reckon so , daft play
Massive let off tbh

That’s a big head on head impact. There’s no way they’d pass a HIA assessment surely.

If he was sparked out then the HIA doesn't even come into play, its just straight into the return to play protocolsScarfaceClaw wrote: Sun Feb 09, 2025 3:30 pm That’s a big head on head impact. There’s no way they’d pass a HIA assessment surely.
