The scrums were pretty equal in 1H but we got mullered in the 2H.
Yep fair enough too kiwi, it was maybe when Newell went off? But loosies were in another class anyway.mind you helps when tighties get on top.
Agreed, the Chiefs loosies played really well against quality opposition. They adjusted to Jacobson's early injury without missing a beat. Finau was into everything - when he gets his timing right he's a genuine menace - and Parker's had a great start to the season.

Good start by the Canes.

Hoping our 'Arry plays well and makes the 10 jersey his own.

Drua race ahead 22-12.

Canes way too loose with the ball. Some of the passing has been abysmal, and they can't blame the conditions.

Having 2 men in the bin doesn't bloody help, either.

That looks like a beautiful day in Napier, Jesus I wish I was there. That is a lovely little ground.

Drua ahead 22-19 at HT.

Glad Harkin's OK - I didn't really want Godfrey playing the whole game at fullback.

I missed most of this due to the demands of snow clearing in the drive and our side street.

Sounds like the perfect excuse to just park up indoors and watch the footy.

Highlanders v Blues. A celebration of the truly awful haircuts we see in New Zealand rugby.

Blackadder I thought had a good game but he was fighting a lonely fight. Finau was a bloody monster.

Not when balanced against how angry Ms. Kiwias would be on her return from work to a snowed-in driveway.

Kiwias is an expat. Lives in Japan.

Blues are grinding this out up front. Highlanders just not making the ground.

And yet... as I typed that they ran 70 meters to return a BB aimless kick for a try.

23-21 Landers

If you want to change a rule that ruins the game, it’s this one. Down to thirteen men for the rest of the game because of injuries.

Should the ‘lose a player because uncontested scrums’ be a thing when there’s a card involved?

Terrific stuff from the Highlanders in that last twenty.

Abject from the Blues. All AB back line can’t get past thirteen men. Reminds me of watching Edinburgh.

The short-handed Highlanders upset the reigning champs 29-21. Great stuff, Landers!

Blues start the season 0-2.

Barrett with another pissy grubber kick when his team desperately needs to keep the ball in hand. Sure enough it leads to the dagger 3 by the Highlanders.

I can't wait until Perofeta is back.

And running Riccitelli into the ground worked a treat. Bottled those lineout throws and was limping for the final 30 minutes.

What a win by the Force.

Absolutely bonkers game!

Brumbies will do well to get close next week... Can't beat a 13-man Force outfit.

Yup, the Chiefs have been seriously impressive so far, especially in the 2nd half of both games.

This kid was awesome, Dmacesque in stature and looks and sounds like a teenager when interviewed, not a pro rugby player in his 20s. Both Highlanders games have been fun so far, they are a joy to watch.

I think Super rugby has not been as good as this since the original S12 days. Already looking forward to next week's games.
