Hopefully the R&A hold out about letting Turnberry hosting the Open although there will be pressure on them to change their policy, however next 5 Open venues are already sorted.

I thought Trump came out firmly on the side of the PGA a couple of weeks back? Not that that means he won’t change his mind for a bit of coin, but he seemed fairly set

Next five? I've only seen the next three - Portrush this year, then Birkdale then St Andrews.

I've seen suggestions that the next two would be Muirfield and Lytham but no official confirmation.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

Looks like the US Postal Service is the next in line for the Trump treatment. Probably over to Bezos to gut and goodbye postal voting.

It is a type of voting much more ope to abuse than in person. But the problem is any reduction in postal voting will not be twinned with improving in person voting such people only have to queue for 5, maybe 10 minutes max.

No real story to this, just MTG getting burned by Jasmine Crockett.

MBS has invested a lot into LIV and they want their return on investment now. I imagine it went something along lines of 'if you want to host LIV golf at your golf courses then you need to sort out the PGA v LIV stalemate'. Trump also needs to sweeten MBS given his plans for Gaza. LIV is a small throwaway token in a bigger game of poker going on, as long as Trump wins financially he doesn't give a shit about LIV or the PGA Tour. He will blackmail/threaten the PGA to strike a deal in next few weeks.

Agreed.

Now, I love winding up lefties and bobble hats as much as the next person , but there isn’t really any justifiable humour to inject holocaust era salutes under thin jokey veneer of ‘my heart goes out to you’. More than a tad disrespectful to all the right wing yanks who died fighting the nazis, let alone all the Jews, gypsies , non ayrans etc.

All these Nazi salutes is only going to harden Germany's resolve to send more cash and weapons to Ukraine.

That one's less full-chested than Musk's and he only does it once, almost furtively. Anyone who dissembled or equivocated over the fragile billionaire's sieg heiling will have no problem doing the same for Bannon.

But they'll do that regardless. There's a certain sector of the American right that has fully adopted Russia's troll approach of denying reality, often delighting in how absurd the lie is.

Yes and no. Given the publicity around Musk, he can hardly say it was anything else. Of course I agree that there will be plenty of people still making excuses, but for anyone on the fence, like me to be honest, this blows it open.

Everyone loves a good sideshow and most of us are sort of transfixed with this current mess... like watching a good car crash, you feel thehorror but you can't look away.

It's worth remembering that there are other actors at play in this show though, there are good people doing good things and showing real leadership. Illinois Governor, JR Pritzker has been delivering some priceless one liners like renaming Lake Michigan Lake Illinois, for one but he's also showing some real empathy and strength... this is a decent watch. Skip to about 4.40 for a sobering quote...

Depends on the peace settlement terms But essential is a ceasefire and then elections. Elections are a must to give the leaders legitimacy. Then the peace settlement terms can be fought out . Where hopefully the people will be considered. Not just the likes of BlackRock
Will these elections be monitored and will the locals be assured that they will not be fixed?

Why would Putin allow this?

Allow it? It would be a gift to him. Imagine trying to hold an election in a war zone, getting the population to assemble at key locations while your opponent lobs missiles at them.

What a stupid fucking idea.

The terms of the monitoring for the election would eb spelt out very clearly in the ceasefire agreement. Putin and Russia would want to ensure the West comply as they didn't with the minsk agreement. And it seems never had any intention too. Naive Putin won't make the same mistake again.

Having banned AP from the Whitehouse, the Trump admin have now kicked CNN out of the Pentagon.

Silencing the press is classic fascism and this certainly looks like the start of that process.

Interesting that they don't seem to be so hot on states making their own decisions on this one.

It's almost like the states rights thing is a flag of convenience that gets waved when it suits them and then put away when it doesn't.

I was at the Pentagon last week, and the mood was noticeably downbeat. Hegseth (amongst the cross-service group I was dealing with) is hated, and although a few still remain Trump supporters, are aghast at what is being done defence-wide. The removal of the Joint Chief was expected, with a 'Yes" man (obviously not woman) being lined-up to replace. It was quite a depressing week to be there.
