Blues looking like bad old Blues of old i.e massively less than the sum of their parts.

Betting against these Blosers has gone well so far. 0-4 ATS.
Dire stuff once again.
EDIT: And Chiefs away next. No shot on current form.

he wouldn't have been playing in the forwards though, and that's where they lost this. How many breakdown turnovers? The lineout went to shit and the scrum folded like a paper towel.
Yup, he was poor. I'm certain the Blues could have scored had he passed instead of going to ground around 60 minute mark.... Iirc Brumbies eventually scored from the turnover - 10+ pt swing.
That was the proverbial game of two halves, Blues really should have built a bigger lead going into halftime.
Edit - it was the 43rd minute, not a certain try but he had Segner in support with clear space to run into in the 22.
The pass was the right option. Instead he went to ground, gets turned over & 3 mins later Brumbies score.

That's true too. Forwards completely outplayed.Guy Smiley wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 8:17 am![]()

Yep, even with all the injuries, the pack's sure dropped off since last year. Thought the young'uns like Segner, Beehre and Cam Christie acquitted themselves well, so there's plenty to build on in the future. But right now, they look like they really miss Akira, imho.Guy Smiley wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 8:17 am![]()

Eh? What's the story with Darry?

"Blues lock Sam Darry has been ruled out of the Blues Super Rugby Pacific season following a shoulder injury sustained at training last week.
The injury has been assessed and will require surgery. It is expected that Darry will be fit in time for the All Blacks selection window.
“It was just one of those crazy little things that happen at training,” said Blues Head Coach Vern Cotter.
“It’s really unfortunate for Sam. We’ll miss him and we wish him all the best with his recovery.”
Darry debuted for The Blues in 2021. He has continued to improve his game and made big strides for the Blues in their championship-winning 2024 season.
Darry impressed All Blacks selectors and made his international debut against Fiji in San Diego in 2024."

It's a leadership issue, I reckon. There were some standout performers for them in the first half with the loose forwards looking particularly dangerous. Couple that with Beauden's explosive ability to break the line and they made the most of the opportunities they got, where the Brumbies suffered a bit comparatively with less possession and no luck with the bounce. I think the Blues have got into a pattern of expecting someone to step up and lead the way...
maybe that's the old issue with them, playing like superstars and forgetting to do the hard work to earn that.

Very happy for the Drua and you can see in the crowd reaction the feeling in the game. Chiefs have done well to salvage the BP.
Good game to watch.

Players chucking those miss passes should be forced to listen to Trump speeches for a week.
