Season 2 was poor. The supporting characters - not necessarily the cast, they were just following the script - were awful.

I quite like the books as a bit of daft light reading, not really got into the series in the same way.
S3 is based on one of the better Reacher novels and so far has been good after 3 episodes.
Imagine my delight when I finish episode 3 last night to then discover that they’re dropping an episode a week. It’s streaming you clowns.

Streamers have been doing that with a lot of their premium/prestige shows for a little while now. It's part one of their attempt to fight back against people who subscribe for a month of two, binge a load of stuff and then cancel. I think minimum subscription lengths are just around the corner. Of course they could attempt to improve their offering/libraries and make it less compelling for people to engage in short term subbing, but why bother to try and improve the consumer experience when you can enshittify it instead?

The week between is so Prime hope you forget that - despite already paying £8 a month for the service - they'll still have 5 ad breaks in a 44 minute episode and you will watch next Thursday.

Sky do this via the sky app. 45 seconds of unskippable adverts when watching Penguin. I’m already paying a fecking fortune. Stick your adverts up your hole Sky.

And the ads are very badly intrusive and jarring, slotted in at seemingly random moments and with not even a blank frame between the show and the ads

Netflix probably needs to move to this model. Binging is bad for audience numbers as it doesn't get time to engage viewers.

They did it with Star Trek Discovery but I think that was Paramount's choice, not theirs

But it also means that if a show is average, no-one will bother to wait a week for Ep 2. They just remove it from their List and find something else.

At least when I binge I think less about a show's quality and just dive into the next episode "in case it improves...."

Looking forward to watching this.

I couldn't get into another Graham project, A Thousand Blows. Gave up on it after just one and a bit episodes.

It's incredibly good and pretty thought provoking as a dad of young boys who will enter their teenage years having to navigate an information space far more complex (and potentially harmful) than the one I experienced in the 90s.

I was the same. Struggled to understand the dialogue.

I thought Adolescence was great after they got over the ridiculous OTT police raid.

I never got into the Netflix Daredevil series, it liked the light touch that was woven into the conics, even at the worst of times. Just too grimdark.

But I decided to watch The first series of The Punisher and really enjoyed that, it was grim amd gritty, but it's 100% supposed to be and was well thought out. Absolutely brutal ending for Villian 1, and pretty much self-inflicted.

Watched the first episode, again, couldn't get into it.

I will be in the minority, but I loved the Daredevil we got in She-Hulk, serious but with a joke or two, plus the absolute slut status he has in the comics. Seriously, the amount of shagging he does is truly noteworthy (although you have a high percentage of ending up dead if you date him).

I made the mistake of trying to binge the series last night, but had to take a breather after episode three. Will watch the last episode tonight.

Was initially a bit dubious about the single tracking shot approach, but it works brilliantly imho. And the young actor who plays Jamie is astonishingly good.

Terrific telly.

Yeah, I had to stop as well. May re-watch 3 before going to 4.

Watching Lockerbie during the break. That's a harrowing first episode and very intriguing after that watching the whole deviousness of "intelligence" and politics.

The suggestion that US intelligence were on the ground instantly interfering with evidence is absolutely ridiculous. It's a very, very one sided and unreliable drama. Just a series of conspiracy theories.

Just watching High Potential. Kind of a different concept but in the standard mould of outsider working with cops. Enjoying it though, even if it’s a bit daft. Helps that Kaitlin Olsen is kinda hot.

We finished it last night as well, my wife was in floods of tears from start to finish - the main lad looks a little like our boy and it really hit home.

The first episode was so incredible that I'm finding it hard to judge the other 3 on their own merits to be honest.

One of those rare series that's well worth a re-watch, I reckon. But not just yet... still a bit raw.

Just reflecting on the production aspects... the single tracking shot; the transition from the hectic, crowded school episode to the more deliberate ep.3 two-hander... the whole thing's pure class imho.

If anyone's not seen it yet, The Virtues is another great Stephen Graham 4-part series.

Spoke to my sister today who is in probation. She thought the “interview” episode in the prison was incredibly unrealistic and spoilt it a bit for her. Loved the other bits though

Given that season 2 is meant to be the last for Andor, it's started pretty slowly. It could do with a lot more rebellion/espionage and a lot less imperial domestic bliss and high society weddings. At this pace it feels like another 2 seasons are required to take us from Andor the new rebel to where he was in Rogue One.

I had high hopes for Dope Thief, which stars the rapper guy from Atlanta. Starts off OK, but I'm up to episode 7 of 8 and probably should've pulled the plug a lot sooner. Not even sure I can be bothered watching the last episode. 4/10 WNB
